Gun Death, Hunting Knife

From Jennifer a bit of a gut-twister

Police say a man carrying a hunting knife crept up behind an 8-year-old boy playing a video game in a New York restaurant and plunged a 4-inch blade into his back five times.

Police say Evan Sachs picked the boy out at random and stabbed him five times in the back Friday night at a Dave and Buster’s in Westbury on Long Island.

Gahhhhh! From a former 8-year-old who used to play a LOT of video games in arcades and drugstores and pizza parlors, this is just a NASTY story.

The boy had suffered a punctured lung and was listed in stable condition. He is expected to recover.

Thank God for that, but YOW! Hang in there, little dude!

Now does ANYBODY want to tell me how horrible and nasty guns are? Oh and those who seem bent on gun control, let me know how NYC’s knife control laws are working. You think its legal to carry a hunting knife in a NYC restaurant? Uh-huh. These laws work!

Here’s another one we can both use. Not a death, but it was a kidnapping on a college campus, and no guns were involved.

She got extremely lucky. It seems like the goblin changed his mind, and instead of taking her to his apartment like he said where he could have her alone for as long as he needed, he took her back to campus and she got away – but he managed to get her into his car and drive off with her. Bad, bad, BAD!

    His only weapon? A pen.

  2. Bubblehead Les says:

WTF? Technical details: Did not happen in NYC, happened in small bedroom community on Long Island, so the weapon could have been bought at any nearby Wally World. But the goblin will be headed to the Psych Hospital instead of Jail, because his “Meds” had been recently changed. Hope the Kid get better, hope the people responsible for the Looney being loose get there Ass’ sued off, and I hope Dave and Busters doesn’t have to be Shystered in paying out to the kid’s family by some Ambulance Chaser. Of course, even if someone there had CCW, probably couldn’t carry because I think the D+B restaurant chain serves Adult Beverages, which is why this would be a good test case to rollback those kind of Gun Restrictions.

  3. ZerCool says:

Les: New York is odd about gun restrictions.

The process to get a CCW permit is onerous and expensive. The purchase of a handgun is nearly as difficult.

But once you HAVE them, you can carry essentially anywhere. Bars. Churches. Restaurants. Liquor stores. Grocery stores. The only places that are off-limits are schools, courts, post offices, and the usual array of federal stuff.

Why? Because NY’s process is SO bizarre and so few people bother to get their permit that the politicos never bothered to restrict things. I carry *everywhere* with few exceptions. If I am going out with the express purpose of drinking, I leave the gun at home. If I am out doing things and someone says, “Hey, let’s go grab one!” I will keep it on rather than leave it relatively unsecured in my car.

So if someone HAD been CCW there, that very well could have been one for the Dead Goblin chart.
