Funny story. I tell my GF I want a gun because I follow this blog, but she tells me she doesn't want me carrying it around her. She argues that pepper spray or a taser would be equally effective. Thoughts?

I see a fair number of people doing weak and unsupported drills at the range. However when I ask about their weak hand draw techniques I get a blank stare- what happens if you're strong arm is disabled before you even draw? WHat would have happened if the injuries to his arm were incapacitating to his strong arm?

I practice at home by reaching around behind my back to grab and draw. If you want to practice this make sure to keep the muzzle pointdown and away from you then bring it up as it clear your weak leg. Also of note this is why I ditched holsters with thumb breaks or SERPA systems- virtually impossible to draw quickly via a weak hand draw. I now run with open top holsters. Try this at home with an unloaded weapon or blue training gun.

And practice reloading with only one arm (hint: put weapon between your legs with muzzle pointed down and away, slap in new magazine, rack slide by catching rear sight on heel of shoe or hold with knees and push forward and release or use any available thing in the environment (wall corner, etc to catch the rear sight on).
