A Bit Extreme

Funny Song!

h/t Alan

BTW in the comments there Dwight Brown of Whipped Cream Difficulties (I fucking love that blog title) mentions about the hype of the series with gunnie g33ks.

Seriously Dwight I was late to the Firefly game as well…I actually watched Serenity first (Which BTW I Don’t regret…I don’t know if I’d recommend it, but I think it IS an easier way to get a solid feel of the series). You’re missing out.

Oh and BTW my wife is also a huge Firefly fan, she’s also a huge Buffy fan…but not the Buffy I’m a Fan of, I thought the Buffy series and its spin-offs totally sucked ass.

That’s funny. I’ve never heard of either until I heard Caleb on Gun Nuts Radio mention it about a dozen times. Says he has a man crush on the lead actor. Then I signed up for the Netflix streaming and low and behold,… Firefly! Just watched the whole season last month… and Serenity. Geeks with guns!

I am a huge Firefly fan- the writing was fabulous…

    “Lets be bad guys”

“Why is it you get poetic about your pecker”

    and my fave:

“There is a special place in hell for child molesters and people who talk in the theater”

There is a story behind that title, honorable Weer’d.

The Firefly/Serenity fandom I’m most familiar with isn’t in the gun blogger community, but generally in the circle of people i know personally; some of my best friends are fans. And more power to them; much like sodomy or mixing Mountain Dew with your single-malt Scotch, if that’s your pleasure, I’m happy for you. Just leave me out of it.

There’s also very much a strong “won’t let go” contingent about the fandom that drives me up a tree. The show’s been off the air for HOW long? And people are still obsessing over it? The movie made HOW much at the box office? And people are still talking about sequels? Folks, it’s over. Let it go. Joss has moved on to other things now.

(I have much this same reaction to other things I perceive as overhyped as well: I’ve never watched “E.T.” or the original “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, though I do sort of regret the latter. I have no regrets about never having seen an episode of “Survivor” or that glorified karaoke competition running on Fox at the moment.)

All that being said, I’m not above using “I’ll be in my bunk”, or “Man walks down the street wearing a hat like that…” in casual conversation.

heh, I hear you. Like Tam says about talking good on Glocks or Macs….you don’t want people to think you’re ONE OF THEM!

I would still advise you to give it a shot, at least by watching Serenity, its really a cool concept, and its nice to see a movie with some strong libertarian leanings.

And with it being on Netflix Instant-Watch it doesn’t even take much effort to sit down with a bowl of poppin’ corn! 😀

    Whatever, dude. Buffy ROCKS. 🙂

  5. Dev says:

I’m shocked. I’ve never met anyone who liked the movie but DIDN’T like the show. Strange.

    • Weerd Beard says:

Buffy? Yeah I’m Weer’d like that! One huge factor is the cast. Donald Sutherland, Rutger Hower, and Paul Rubens are a huge factor.

As for Surenity/Firefly equally. Its all about the characters and the series develps more on that, but the movie is better as a stand-alone composition.
