And More Evil

Pure bullshit for political gain!

“These transactions are strictly all cash. No paperwork whatsoever. It’s just like buying a loaf of bread. People are buying handguns of their choice,” said Syracuse Deputy Mayor John Cowin.

“Being able to close off this loophole is really going to give us an opportunity to see less illegal guns in the hands of people who shouldn’t have them,” said Barnhart.

The majority of crimes involving firearms are committed with illegal guns. About 30 percent of these come from this gun show loophole.

OK first up, ever heard of somebody going to jail for selling a loaf of bread to a person who isn’t a resident of the state? Ever heard of somebody going to jail for selling a loaf of bread to a convicted felon? How about selling a loaf of bread to a minor child? How about selling a loaf of bread to an adult with a clean background, but under the age of 21?

Honestly, private sale is a BIT closer to buying beer or booze…but even then when I visit Uncle Jesse in New Hampshire and he gives me a bottle of wine to try out, Jesse isn’t committing a felony. He would be if he sold me a firearm as a private citizen to private citizen.

And 30% of crime guns come from private sales? Citation? Yeah I didn’t think so. Made up numbers? Probably, if not it was financed by Michael Bloomberg with the unwritten request that the numbers come out the way he wants to see them.

This really isn’t a political issue, its a good vs. evil issue.

I’m on the side of good. What side are you on?

The latest study that I’m aware of is by the Bureau of Justice Statistics titled Firearm Use by Offenders, revised 2/04/02. The most current information that this study contains is from 1997. Page 6, table 8 Source of Firearms:
    Retail 8.3%
    Pawn Shop 3.8%
    Flea Market 1.0%
    Gun Show 0.7%
Purchased or traded from family or friend 12.8%
    Rented Borrowed 18.5%
    other (straw purchase) 8.3%
    Theft 9.9%
    Drug dealer/off street 20.8%
    Fence/Black Market 8.4%
    Other 7.4%
