Bright Bulbs of Gun Control

I’m amazed at how openly incompetent supporters of gun control are:

“One of the biggest things is to make sure we look at policies here in the state of Massachusetts,” said Morse.

Currently, a dangerous – and sometimes deadly – loophole exists in Massachusetts.

“There’s a loophole that allows folks to purchase illegal guns without background checks on every sale, so it’s important we examine the loopholes that exist right now in the laws,” said Morse.

Only licensed dealers are required to run background checks before selling a gun, meaning just about anyone could purchase a gun illegally through internet sales or gun shows.

Ummmm so you’re a mayor in Massachusetts and you’re taking action against gun laws…but you don’t actually KNOW the laws here?

OK to be fair Massachusetts is listed by anti-gun groups as a “Gunshow Loophole State”. Its true, we do have “Private Sale” here, but let’s explain the scare quotes:

I’m a Massachusetts resident and I have a ton of guns. None are currently for sale, but let’s pretend they are. Ok now imagine another Massachusetts resident who wants a gun, but has none, but does have LOTS of money.

This Resident in the least restrictive towns in Massachusetts (The most restrictive often require club membership, a scored range test, additional fees, additional letters of recomendation etc. All of this is illegal, and supported by the criminals in MAIG) They will need to:

-Complete the NRA Basic Pistol training course (This is even if they only want to buy a rifle)

-Fill out application form and submit a check for $100

-Wait one month

-After background check and foot dragging you’ll be asked to come in for fingerprinting and photographing. You will then be issued your FID/LTC

So after discussing the sale with me, and confirming you are licensed to exercise your “protected” rights we’ll meet someplace (preferably with an internet connection and a printer)

Go to the Massachusetts Electronic Transfer and Registration form

Submit firearm make, model, caliber, and barrel length and serial number.
Submit buyer and seller’s Name, hair color, eye color, race, and permit number.

Exchange goods, and print copies of forms for your own records. The electronic portion goes to the Massachusetts State Police.

This transaction cannot exceed 4 guns SOLD per calender year (you may BUY as many as you wish).

This needs to be done for EVERY sale not done at a gun show.

Can you show me where the hell the loophole is, Mayor Morse?

Or you can do what the criminals do, and just skip the whole thing and give cash for illegally acquired guns.

This is quite consistent with anti-gun people. We have this wonderful clip

Or this where a Mayor spoke out against HR 822, because it would make every state like HIS STATE!

If you support gun control you are stupid. Sorry!

  1. Thanks for the link.

You have to wonder sometimes. I know that I’m not supposed to attribute to malice what can adequately be explained by stupidity, but damn. No one is that stupid that consistently.

    • Pyrotek85 says:

Can’t they be both stupid AND evil?

      • Weerd Beard says:

Being evil generally IS stupid, as just being REALLY nice in general gets you far more shit than you’d ever get if you were selfish and evil all the time.

Think of this, my wife had a Seizure last year, within 72 hours I had people helping me watch her and my fridge had more food than I knew what to do with.

You think we’d get that much help if we were total dicks?

  2. Eck! says:

    Sean,
Is it malice when one makes less than an effort to not educate themselves.
It is fraud when one works to act stupid when it is not true.

I accuse them of malice and fraud.

    Eck!

    • Weerd Beard says:

Its also STUPID to not make an effort to educate yourself.

Its also stupid to do all this blood-dancing and hand-wringing about victims and support the laws that leave people defenseless and do nothing against the violent criminals.

  3. MAgunowner says:

There’s a loophole that allows people to buy illegal guns in private sales in the same sense there’s a loophole that allows kids to buy beer from a liquor store that chooses not to card them.

  4. Bubblehead Les says:

Funny. Up here, one of my neighbors had a Yard Sale, and the wife found he had a Bushnell Red Dot for sale. She called home and asked if I wanted it for $45. I said yeah, but ask if he had any Guns he wanted to sell. She asked, he said he sold them all earlier in the morning. For Cash.

So obviously, we MUST pass a Nation-Wide Law to close the Illegal Yard Sale Loophole!

    • Weerd Beard says:

Thankfully these idiots have NO political power, and that’s considering the fact that MAIG is the only anti-rights group that has any political relevance anymore.

Thankfully “Political Relevance” doesn’t seem to get any bills passed. So sad for those criminals!

  5. Eck says:

There’s no loophole, only people partaking in violating the law. The fact that the law may be impractical and impossible to enforce except for punishing the offenders if and when caught. It serves only one purpose and that is to make the law abiding citizen a criminal by making compliance complex. Of course if you have time and money or a personal protection squad it’s not a problem.

I’ve wrote about this before. We have drunk drivers . Lest make all cars very difficult to get, keep and costly. Of course its regressive and has classism and racism all over it. But we will all be safer. Not! Sure it’s s simple example but the gun grabbers think that way.

    Eck!

  6. Jack says:

It’s not just stupidity and malice.

There’s some serious ignorance at work here.

Recall, that for many Anti’s it’s a point of *pride* to show that they don’t know anything about firearms.

It’s a way to prove that they haven’t been sullied by those icky guns.

It’s also congruent with their arrogance. Their position is dependent on their moral and intellectual superiority, so in their view there’s no need to actually investigate their beliefs.

See: Cultists, magical thinking, gun pulls the trigger, ect.

  7. Greg Camp says:

Dang, here in Arkansas, our laws are freer than your loopholes. Carolyn McCarthy is an illustration of how knowledge isn’t a prerequisite for writing laws, but the real problem is that a majority votes in these people. It’s no shock that some politicians are stupid or evil. What’s disturbing is that we allow them to be.
