Ironic

I got this article from Joan Peterson.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — More than 30 years after Ohio created comprehensive domestic violence laws, spotty enforcement of protection orders still leaves victims vulnerable….It’s common to hear from victims that they were shooed away by officers who tell them to go back to court or call their attorney after an order was violated, said Dan Clark, a former police chief who trains police in Cuyahoga County and across the country.

“They tell victims there is nothing they can do about it,” he said. But that’s not true. Clark said many of the officers are either uninformed or misinformed.

Wow, so women are seeking protection orders to protect them from violent domestic partners, and the papers are essentially worthless.

And I got this article from a woman who wants to keep these women defenseless!

Good work, Joan!

  1. I have been suggesting to abused women that they get an order of protection for years. I then tell them to keep it handy to show the nice police officer that shows up after the abusive ex ignores it and forces her to shoot him. Other than that, they aren’t usually worth much.

Of the women I have known, very few of them ever do go get the order (in spite of my, and other’s advice), some have regretted that decision. Of those who did go get the order, thankfully, none of them have had to actually shoot their ex but it’s been a close thing a few times. To my knowlege, none of them have ever regretted actually getting the order, which seems to be the main thing that most women who don’t get one are afraid of.

On the other hand… There have been a couple occasions where, during a breakup, an ex of mine have had their family try to get them to get a restraining order against me merely because they knew that I have firearms (not because I was abusive in any way). I try not to date women who have familys that are anti-gun anymore because of that. Imagine that as a question on a first date “Does your Mother or Father dislike firearms?” Yea, that doesn’t actually happen, but it gives me the tickles just thinking about it.

Yep the one thing a protection order does well is make a VERY solid case for a lethal force. Not only does it plainly state the presence of serious violence, but for a man to get within shooting range of his ex is crime in itself that he received proper and formal warning of.

ISTR that the protection order is necessary to get an emergency CCW issued.

  2. AZRon says:

A protection order may help a court case with attending violations, but it does NOTHING to prevent a crime. No amount of legislation will make illegal illegaler.

A firearm, used properly, can prevent crimes. A new law is the govt’s way of saying “hey look, we care about you”, as you are lowered into the grave.

  3. Dave says:

Joan thinks that we want everyone to have a gun so they can take matters into their own hands, but refuses to consider the fact that it’s easier to control your own reactions to events, or preparations than to make the whole world accommodate you.

Interesting point! That does appear to be the mindset of “Progressives”, indeed they think they can do what they want, and the .Gov should cater to their needs and whims.

Just look at the Anti-Semites sleeping in the parks!
