Irony

Wow!

A civil rights group wants the state to suspend the concealed carry permit of George Zimmerman as investigators probe the shooting death of black teenager Trayvon Martin.

But Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam, whose agency oversees concealed weapons permits, said he can’t do anything without pending criminal charges or a felony conviction. In Florida, felons are not allowed to carry concealed weapons without restoration of their civil rights and firearm authority.

Maybe there should be some scare quotes around “Civil Rights Group”, given that they’re talking about stripping of rights without due process.

Look you anti-rights racist shitheads, Zimmerman is going to be charged with crimes, and he’s going to have his day in court. After that, if found guilty he can have rights stripped.

That’s called “Due Process” and “Civil Rights”.

You demanding we ignore all of these cornerstones of American law whilst calling yourself a “Civil Rights Group” is the definition of irony.

Due process only applies to favored groups. He’s a gun owner, a carry license holder, and (supposedly) white. That’s three strikes against him, without regard to what he’s done.

I do look forward to seeing him have his day in court, since this whole case smells funny, but that’s due process. Not making up our minds before the investigation is done and the case is tried.

    Civil Rights?

“You keep using that phrase. I do not think it means what you think it means.”

  4. wfgodbold says:

Only guilty people complain about due process violations!

You’re not guilty, are you, Weerd?

  5. Rob Crawford says:

Modern “civil rights” groups are, all too often, just race-hate groups.
