Sikh Temple Shooting

There was a mass-shooting in a Sikh Temple today. The antis are dancing in the blood.

Me I’m waiting for more information before I do an in-depth post. All I will say at this hour is my heart goes out to the victims, and I’d like to express my Solidarity with the Sikh people. I’ve known several Sikhs in my travels, and have several close friends who grew up in the Punjabi region of India where the most Sikhs live. I can’t say a single bad thing about them, and I’m disgusted by the people who assume just because a man wears a beard and a turban he’s somehow connected to terrorism.

Let’s keep the political comments to a minimum in the comment section here, but I would appreciate any factual information any of you have on this shooting and the pertinent laws that apply to this incident.

May the Good Lord bless and keep the souls of these good people and their families. 🙁

  2. Tango says:

Good point. Heck, you and I BOTH have beards.

Ok, maybe not so awesome an endorsement.

I’d read that one of the tenants of that religion was self defense which they symbolize by wearing a belt knife. I always figured that in modern times that would evolve into a pistol, sadly I appear to be wrong or premature.

Again I’m waiting for more information, but I too was surprised that this threat wasn’t met with armed confrontation with what is a true Warrior Caste.

    • Rob Crawford says:

I doubt they’d be allowed to carry pistols in India, and Wisconsin just got sane CCW laws this year.

      • Weerd Beard says:

Was actually talking about India’s gun laws yesterday over brunch with a nice fella who grew up in Punjab. Not only is Carry 100% illegal, but your gun license in India also says how many CARTRIDGES to own!

Needless to say, this fella has quite the collection of fully-loaded 30-cal cans 😀

    Evil, pure and simple.

Unfortunately, evil can’t be stopped by wishing it would go away.

I saw this on the news and the first thing in my head was a political comment, but I’ll keep that to myself for now, out of respect for the victims. May their souls and their families find peace and solace.

Only thing I’ve heard so far is that the weapon was a semi-automatic pistol of as-yet unreported make, model, and caliber. Also no word yet on magazine size or if he carried anything else, but I rather doubt he used more than one weapon or an “oversize” magazine. They’re usually pretty quick about jumping on that.

Latest news this morning is that he was a WHITE MALE U.S. ARMY VETERAN!!!!!!

Who served one Hitch in the mid-90s, during the Clinton Admin, w/o seeing Combat, so the MSM can’t pin him for “Bush’s War” for screwing him up (which must be frustrating them to no end).

But the way they keep saying “U.S. ARMY VETERAN!”, I expect to hear from some Talking Head Shrinks about how BAD Military Service can be, and ALL Vets are “Powder Kegs”, a la Travis Bickel (younger readers, see the movie “Taxi Driver” for details) just WAITING to EXPLODE!

And of course, Japete’s Blood Dancing will give her a new set of Blisters.

I cannot say as though I know a great deal about the Sikhs, but they look like a very interesting group of people.

That said, from the reading I have been doing, they seem big on the entire concepts of “individual responsibility”, “self-defense”, and “defense of innocents”, to the point of being religiously obligated to not only carry a knife, but also step in defense of others should they believe a situation warrants it.

I wonder if all those morons screaming for “gun control” in the wake of this tragedy understand how much they are violating the religious precepts of those they are exploiting?

  8. Wolfman says:

I do recall during the London riot last year, the Sihk population was among those banding together to repel boarders. Made a note, then, to add them to the list of folks I want on MY side, when the world begons to burn. A tightly knit community built on honor, responsibility, and defense? Sounds good to me. I am sad on their behalf, that such evil befall them. To the man who tried, but failed, to stop the shooter- while the analogy may not translate, you died with your boots on. That alone is worth ten of many men. Go not peacefully into that long dark night…
