Chicago’s top cop likens gun lobby’s influence to corruption

Wow a Chicago cop said this? I R O N Y!!!

“If there was a special interest influencing police work, I believe that would be called corruption,” McCarthy said. “So, if it has to do with donating money, versus a popular vote, I think we have a bigger problem in this country and someone has to wake up to that.”

Gun rights advocates seized on the comments, saying that McCarthy was blaming the city’s gun violence on donors and lobbyists who advocate for the Second Amendment.

So not only is he against the 2nd Amendment, but his complaints against petition of government and donating to political causes is pretty anti first Amendment as well. Anti-freedom, not anti gun.

Also interesting that a Police Chief serves at the pleasure of the Mayor, so a POLITICIAN can have a Chief removed, or replaced at any time. By his definition that’s “Corruption”. Pot, meet kettle!

Despite having some of the toughest gun laws in the nation, Chicago saw more than 500 homicides last year for the first time since 2008, and some 43 murders took place in January. That has prompted several pro-gun rights groups to say it proves new gun control measures aren’t the answer.

Less guns, more crime! And last for more stupid irony:

“When people say concealed carry, I say Trayvon Martin,” McCarthy said, referring to the Florida teen who was shot and killed last February by a neighborhood watch volunteer, sparking controversy across the country. “I say Trayvon Martin because the answer to guns is not more guns, and just simply putting guns in people’s hands is going to lead to more tragedy.”

What’s that on your hip officer? How about those guys behind you? What’s in your patrol cars?

If guns are so bad, why do we let self-labeled “Corrupt” cops have them?

  1. Funny, I think of Trayvon Martin too. That’s why I carry.

So Barney Fife made Chief, eh?

Ok, let’s look at the Trayvon Martin case. Even if we stipulate that Trayvon Martin was murdered in cold blood (merely for the sake of argument, not saying that he was). So what?

    1) I have never killed anyone, shot anyone, or shot AT anyone. Why take MY rights and/or privileges away? Punishing someone completely unaffiliated with a crime? Is that the way you want things chief? Then maybe you should be fired… after all, you are a police chief, and apparently you believe that the police botched the handling of the Treyvon Martin case. So, I mean, by your fucked up measure, firing you is the right thing to do, right?

    2) Now for the logical argument that will just be ignored anyway. Look at the statistics. The pure numbers. Those of us with concealed carry permits, statistically, commit crimes far less often than even the police. Now WHO is it that should be disarmed?
