Lie Back and Think of England

Found another “debunking” of the whole “If the Jews hadn’t been Disarmed” argument. I must say this line is really shameful:

Antony Polonsky, a professor of Holocaust studies at Brandeis University, takes issue with a common corollary: that the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising — in which about 750 Jews took up arms, killed about 25 Nazis and briefly slowed the deportation of Jews to concentration camps — shows that an armed minority can resist its genocidal oppressors.

The uprising was the largest single Jewish revolt against the Nazis. But the Nazis killed thousands of Jews in the Warsaw ghetto, and the 50,000 who survived were sent to concentration camps. “The people who participated in it were killed,” said Polonsky.

The record also shows that the Nazis accelerated the liquidation of remaining Jewish ghettos after the uprising.

That’s a pattern with anti-Jewish violence, said Polonsky. “Attempts at self-defense provoke more violence.” The same occurred when Jews took up arms during the Russian pogroms of the early 20th century, and when blacks did the same in the American South before the civil rights era, he said.

WOW! Get that! The Jews would have been BETTER off if they better cooperated with the Nazis who were bent on eradicating them! AMAZING!

You wonder who these anti-gun people sympathize with?

Huffington Post is a target rich environment. I can find all the people that are “wrong on the internet” in one place.

I just had this fight over there. Even children of Holocaust survivors believe this.

    And they have a point.

Without the WILL to use weapons and fight, more guns are useless. The Jews of Europe were the “most civilized” people in the world. They had to be…1900 years of oppression forces you into certain survival traits. That said, these idiots don’t say that. They move the goals posts about the Jews being unable to defeat the Germany Army because it took millions of Russians to do so…so what would the Jews be able to do? Or…more resistance would cause MORE death…as if… what happened was an anomaly. And hind sight is 20/20. It was inconceivable them that the Germans were trucking them off to kill them. They thought it was just another era of persecution, like all the others. Granted…the only thing that could have derailed it is if enough Jews started early enough and escalated to guerrilla warfare, in the late 30’s. Enough international attention might….MIGHT …have accomplished something.

Unlike many of the anti’s though…. guns would have at least allowed SOME of the Jews to take some of those bastards with them.

    This guy says it best:

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?… The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation…. We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

    ― Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

Make sure you read the comments at that link. Not everyone is drinking the koolaid.

Cargosquid brought up some good points but there are some others about the uprising that were missed in the article.

Tt took a lot of troops to pacify the ghetto. Troops that could have been on the front lines. Now imagine hundreds, thousands more armed Jews – what would that have done to the troop assignments?

More fighters could have inspired other areas to uprising. Look at the views of many Jews today — they look that effort and say “Never Again” — going down fighting is a better alternative then simply dying. That is the point of the Solzhenitsyn quote — they failed to learn from history so they repeated the Jewish experience. The Nazis didn’t control all of the radio waves, messages were getting out.

People don’t have to beat an entire army to win the war; Vietnam retaught that lesson.

      Yep.

And when this is mentioned, they return to the trope:

The Wermacht was the greatest army in the world at that time. It took millions of Russians to defeat them, and THEY lost 7 million fighting the Nazis.

  4. Rob Crawford says:

Seems to me that armed Jews have done quite well at resisting being exterminated, repeatedly, since they returned to Israel. Sure, the Jew-haters get angrier and angrier every time their barbaric fantasies are thwarted, but so what?

  5. LarryArnold says:

The record also shows that the Nazis accelerated the liquidation of remaining Jewish ghettos after the uprising.

Isn’t this a good thing? If you’re willing to be exterminated, why drag it out? [/snark]

and when blacks did the same in the American South before the civil rights era

During the civil rights era, however, armed self-defense was an important component of black success.

  6. Cargosquid says:

The record also shows that the Nazis accelerated the liquidation of remaining Jewish ghettos after the uprising.
    Why?

Because Warsaw scared the crap out of them. The realized that the victims were learning the truth and learning that fighting back was possible. And that they had nothing to lose.
