New York Decends into Madness

I think I need to dive deeper into this. Certainly we’ll touch on it in the Squirrel Report tonight, but there is just something HORRIBLY wrong with New York and other big cities in America (Such as Boston) that behavior like this is even TOLERATED, let alone encouraged.

Bloomberg is one-of-a-kind. Anyone who replaces him has to be better. The real question is will Bloomberg be worse for America when he doesn’t have to bother with day to day mayor stuff anymore.

    • Weerd Beard says:

Probably not, as New Yorkers and other urbanites seem to CRAVE have a meddling nanny like Bloomy. I think he’ll find the rest of America less welcoming to his interventions.

I can’t find fault with this. He’s using legislation to attempt to sway people to take more active routes for work. He’s not mandating people actually do that because Liberals of all people love the ADA way too much. It’s his own city’s money he’s wasting. If they want to pass legislation mandating that the city encouraging people to wear knee socks, go for it. So long as they don’t actually mandate that people wear knee socks, that is.

My objection comes in with the “using legislation” part. If he wants to pay for an ad campaign encouraging stair use, then I’d have no problem.

      • TS says:

no, he’s not forcing people to take the stairs, but he is forcing businesses to encourage stair use by taking measured actions with penalties for non-compliance.
