Obama Phones Exposed

Just what you’d expect.

A Republican senator renewed his criticism of a government-backed program that hands out cell phones after an undercover video showed vendors helping people obtain the phones even after saying they wanted to sell them for drugs and other items.

The video was released by conservative activist James O’Keefe and his group Project Veritas. It claimed to show undercover investigators visiting Philadelphia locations for phone vendor Stand Up Wireless and locations for one other company.

The video is here:

These social programs are nothing but vote-buying bribery. Bribery in itself is pretty bad…it really goes over the edge when its OUR MONEY!

Not sure if it’s better or worse, but it’s not our TAX money that pays for “Obama phones”.

The FCC “Lifeline” program – which includes land-lines and cell phones – is funded (in whole or in part) by the “Federal Universal Service Charge” on your phone bill. Rates may vary. But you pay it if you have ANY kind of phone service (possibly cable/FIOS/satellite, too), and you pay it twice if you have a land-line AND a cell phone.

    Fun, huh?

This is just the Lifeline Program. It originated in 1984, during the Reagan administration, expanded during the Clinton administration, and then expanded again to include wireless services (it’s current form) during the Bush administration. This program has absolutely nothing to do with the Obama administration whatsoever, nor is it directly subsidized by taxpayer money.
