Right to Keep and Bear ALL Arms

Now this is a GREAT story! The video of it auto-plays so I’ll tuck it behind a brake at the bottom. Make sure you watch it!

A New York deli worker pulled a machete from under his counter and chased away an armed, masked gunman who fired a shot at the wall as he demanded money, police said.

Police on Long Island say the gunman entered the Stop & Shop Deli on Crooked Hill Road Sept. 25 and fired his silver .22-caliber pistol as he ordered the worker to stuff his Air Jordan backpack with cash.

But the 24-year-old worker, seen in surveillance video released by police, flipped the script on the robber and reached below his counter, where he grabbed a machete.

In less than three seconds, the worker withdrew the machete — which appeared to be about 2 feet long — from its black sheath, opened the gate in his counter and charged after the gunman.

The robber took off out the door as the deli worker chased him, slashing the machete in the air. He chased him all the way across the parking lot.

Now first up this could have gone wrong VERY easily. Even with a big knife you still need to close a gap easily covered by even the most amateur pistol shooters.

Still fighting back is the key, if somebody threatens your life you should BELIEVE them. Further for those who might hear me say “this could have gone wrong VERY easily” note that he was no more-or-less closer to death BEFORE he pulled the Machete, than he was AFTER, and at least he was fighting BACK so your odds are a bit better than the Collin Goddard method of hiding until you get shot.

Still it would be better if the store keeper had a pistol.

Of course pistols are all but illegal in New York City…but then again so are REALLY big knives.

The fact that the knife is illegal is just as egregious as the gun, as its the right to keep and bear ARMS not the right to keep and bear FIREarms.

Ok Video under the brake! ENjoy!

    Weer’d,

That if I read it right is not NYC NY its Suffolk county NY, same state different laws.
It is possible to get a permit there, as it’s not king Bloomie and there and the Sullivan
law is NYC not the eastern half of LI. The first firearm I’d ever bought eons ago came from not far from there when I was a resident. Now with SAFE act it may be different.

Remember when talking about NY there is the state and then NYC which the rest
    of the state resents!

Thanks for the correction, I don’t know NYC well enough to know where the boundaries of the city end.

Still New York State still has some bullshit knife laws that I’m sure this guy was violating when he left the store proper.

NYC is roughly a 20 mile circle with the center at the empire state building.

LI western end is part NYC, the nassau county then suffolk the latter two are easily
90 miles of the total 120 mile length of the island. Suffolk for the most part is over 40mi from NYC and seen like here in may like living out near or past the 495 belt by Bostonites, boonies that way.

Then you have the rest of NY which is a large state. Population I think they are 16million total about 8 of which are NYC residents. The rest of the NYC population commutes there and that is in the millions.

Used to be a ok place to live outside of NYC. Usually farther than commuting distance which is something over 60-80 miles. It was like MA land of taxes and undue NYC influence.
