Stupidity From Joan

She’s good at it!

One “gun guy” packing heat suggested that it would be awful if he was charged with a crime for wandering onto school property with his loaded gun if his little boy runs into a school playground to slide. Question. Why do people need to carry guns when they go out for walks with their kids? I’m just saying. Most people don’t feel the need nor do they carry guns in public. It’s only about 2% of eligible Americans who have their permits. And they are so victimized when people don’t really want them to carry their guns in public places. For how are we to know the difference between a law abiding person with a gun openly holstered and a criminal with a gun in a holster? But that seems to be of no concern to these folks. They love their guns no matter where they are. So do people who want to do others harm. They love guns, too. And they have managed to kill about 11,000 or so of their fellow Americans in gun homicides on average for the past many years.

Uh huh. Well if I don’t need a gun when I’m out for a walk, then why do you need to BAN guns? Nice little attempt at painting conceal carry holders as killers. Not true, but I guess that’s what you can expect from the anti-freedom camp.

Assault weapons? Oh those. They are just your ordinary hunting gun, right? No. They are not nor should they be. There was a bit of a testy exchange with a retired FBI agent who testified in support of the assault weapons ban and the legislator mentioned above. Said legislator took issue with the agent saying he didn’t know people who hunted with AR-15s. Mr. Legislator says everyone hunts with them. They don’t but if he says so it must be true. He says it with so much authority that he doesn’t expect to be questioned

Odd, I know people who hunt with ARs, AKs, and other so-called “Assault Weapons”, and who have been hunting with them for years. These people must not exist! Hey, but what do I know, right?

Keep up the good work, Joan! You’re money well spent from the Joyce Foundation!

  1. After a year of commenting on her blog, it was fun to spend 2.5 days at the Minnesota State Capitol fighting face to face against the Orcs. Joan was there, of course. Not sure she knows that I was there ๐Ÿ˜›

We turned out 800 folks to their 15. It felt good.

We have a big uphill battle – but we’re not going to make it very easy for them.

Were you the “rude and intimidating” person tweeting at her that she mentioned in the post?

      • Nope, pretty sure that was hazmatpat she was referring to – who is GOCRA’s volunteer coordinator — and he was being anything but rude.

Most of the protectMN folks wouldn’t even engage with us in reasoned discourse outside of the committee room…

        • Weerd Beard says:

Hence the scare quotes. Joan is such a narcacist that simply not kissing her ass is “Rude”, and voicing your disagreements with her is considered “intimidating”.

Really the only acceptable behavior in thier eyes is unquestioning subserviance.

“Really the only acceptable behavior in thier eyes is unquestioning subserviance.”

Which is exactly the class of people who shouldn’t have a monopoly on force.

          • Weerd Beard says:

Yep, that and how often they paint lawful gun owners as brutish bullies….meanwhile they publish our privet information and make personal attacks against us.

Also the reason why when a group of pro-gun people get together its all smiles, laughs and good times…even when we’re protesting and have some anger and frustration to vent. Yet when “Progressives” get together, the riot cops are soon to be deployed.

  2. Jake says:

Heck, Dad would love to hunt with his Mini-14, but VA doesn’t allow deer hunting with anything smaller than .23 caliber. If it was a Mini-30 – an even more powerful “assault weapon” – he’d be okay.

“For how are we to know the difference between a law abiding person with a gun openly holstered and a criminal with a gun in a holster?”

I can’t think of a single time where the violent criminal class took to OC’ing their guns. Ever. In fact, I can’t even think of a single news article where the criminal was open carrying.

    • Weerd Beard says:

There’s also the oddity of declaring somebody as “Safe” simply because they aren’t visably armed.

Its like cops assuming a traffic stop will go smoothly simply because the registered owner of a stopped vehicle doesn’t have a carry permit.

      Just stupid.

Most people donโ€™t feel the need nor do they carry guns in public.

Most people don’t feel the need to keep several days food and water in their house; look how that worked out in (Katrina, SuperStorm Sandy, etc ). I’ll forecast there will be people who complain they were hungry, cold and without supplies on the east coast due to this latest natural disaster/snow storm.

โ€œFor how are we to know the difference between a law abiding person with a gun openly holstered and a criminal with a gun in a holster?โ€

Same way we know the difference between a law abiding mother with children and one abusing her children — by her actions.
I guess Joan’s mental issues are so severe something as simple and as basic as that escapes her ability to comprehend.

    • Weerd Beard says:

Oooh I like the Mother with Children analogy!

Also when you see somebody walking with a child in hand, how do you know they’re the legal guardian, and not a kidnapper?????

      Solid gold Bob!

  5. Cormac says:

Well, Mike and Bob beat me to my points.

btw, Bob…there are STILL people homeless and/or without power in the Northeast…I’ll be praying pretty hard for them with this storm coming in.

Gotta wonder how many of them will learn to prepare for their own survival though, rather than simply waiting for mommy and daddy .gov to come swaddle them into safety.
