Film Review: Mitt

So while my daughter was napping I watched this film.

From a statement of the arts it was an amazing film. Very nice candid documentation of the behind the scenes of the 2008 and 2012 Presidential race through the eyes of the Willard “Mitt” Romney camp.

Also the film would have held my interest a LOT better if I wasn’t SUCH a political junkie that so much of the film was essentially watching re-runs for me with some side commentary that was new.

Now from a personal standpoint I hated this film. You see unlike much of America I lived under Mitt Romney as the Governor of Massachusetts. Further I live under his “Progressive” successor Deval Patrick. Deval coined the term “Together We Can”, and is close personal friends with Barack Obama, as well as a virtually indistinguishable political stance.

Essentially shave 6″ off Barack Obama and you have Deval Patrick. And guess who’s been better to live under? Patrick, because while he’s vastly more liberal than Romney, he’s politically ineffective, so while he might WANT to do more harm to me, Romney actually accomplished that.

Further, the documentary shows Mitt to be a Warm and loving guy. Still as much as I dislike President Obama, he appears to be the same way. This goes for ALL national political candidates. If you come off as cantankerous and prickly you don’t make it far in politics.

Essentially this movie is pushing a “Cult of Personality” on Romney, and I find that unsettling. He’s a HORRIBLE politician, and horrible for America, and I don’t like people softening that, so overall I found the film disturbing on a personal level.

Still worth a watch if you’re into this sort of thing, its a really well made movie.
