“Gun Death” Commuter Train

On Halloween my commute home was HORRIBLE! I had rushed to get out of work to get an early train so I could get to LaWeer’da’s daycare to see the kid’s Halloween parade, and see my little girl, and all her friends dressed up in their costumes.

That was NOT in the cards. A little over halfway home my train coasted to a stop. The engine had died. Some people got off, but I didn’t see the advantage. I was many miles from home, and Mrs. Weer’d was still in Boston, so I had a few hours walk to get home. Soon after it was declared that all passengers would be transferred to the NEXT train, that happened to have the Mrs. on-board. I texted her and informed her of this, and she informed me it was standing room only on her train.

Well we all fit, but it was a TIGHT squeeze, and something was wrong with the crossing switches so every time the train crossed a road it had to slow down to a crawl, which was constantly. It was a late night, and we missed the daycare festivities, but that day was worse for another family:

Authorities are investigating the death of a 13-year-old girl who was struck and killed by a commuter rail train in Lawrence Friday afternoon.

Police said they received a call around 4:15 p.m., and found the victim near Inman Street. She has not yet been publicly identified.

So horrible, losing a young girl on Halloween. Don’t know if she was heading home from school, or starting her trick-or-treat run.

Either way it wasn’t a “Gun Death” so this terrible day will be ignored.
