Images of the Antis: Straw Man

The antis claim to understand what we’re thinking:

Peace on Earth

No, we’re not celebrating “Peace on Earth”, we’re recognizing that there are riots and mobs, home invasions and robberies, and just like the Ferguson police were unable to keep stores and cars from being destroyed from an imminent riot they had weeks to prepare for, they likely won’t be able to protect you.

Also this isn’t fear or paranoia, as Americans are buying more and more guns, and people continue to buy their first gun, while violent crime drops, and stores protected by armed citizens didn’t burn in Ferguson.

Now there IS something to celebrate. We live in a nation where private citizens are trusted with personal arms. We are not REQUIRED to wait for police and other government agents to protect us, we can protect ourselves while we call the police.

This is a reality the antis hate. If it wasn’t true they could take our guns with ease!

    Hey Antis,
Thanks for the image– it really shows part, only part, of the modern culture of gun ownership.

    Young, probably urban.
Men and women. Women are the fastest growing segment in firearms ownership and use today.
Interested not in hunting as much as self defense.
Safety conscious — notice the placement of the trigger fingers? Indexed along side, not on the triggers.
Family – it really is a sport where everyone in the family can participate.

And what does it say about you, Anti Rights Cultists, that you have a problem with people protecting themselves ?

    Nehemiah 4: 13-18

herefore I stationed some of the people behind the lowest points of the wall at the exposed places, posting them by families, with their swords, spears and bows. 14After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”

15When our enemies heard that we were aware of their plot and that God had frustrated it, we all returned to the wall, each to our own work.

16From that day on, half of my men did the work, while the other half were equipped with spears, shields, bows and armor. The officers posted themselves behind all the people of Judah 17who were building the wall. Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other, 18and each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked. But the man who sounded the trumpet stayed with me.

Great illustration of how being prepared to defend yourself, your family and city can actually reduce violence.

On the contrary, my guns DO remind me to celebrate Peace On Earth. The riots in Ferguson are a stark reminder of how fragile that peace is, how quickly $#!+ can go bad for normal people, and what it might take to restore peace.

So I celebrate Peace while we have it, and I pray it stays, but I also prepare for its absence.

    Just my $0.02.
