War on Women

Really except not. They do imply that “Progressives” hate on women more, but I don’t buy it. Really it boils down to men and women are different, biologically, and culturally, and that means less money.

My wife and I have similar degrees, in the same field, but she makes twice (more than that, now that I’m part time) of what I make. It all boils down to lifestyle choices.

BUT WAR ON WOMEN!!

If pay discrimination is really going on, why not stop bitching about it and start suing employers under the Equal Pay Act which has been in place for over fifty years? No, its much better to press congress to pass the Double Secret Equal Pay Act of 2015 which will work so much better than the one JFK signed.

…or it’s really just about drumming up votes.

I want to know what role salary negotiations play in this claimed discrepancy. Are women more frequently underselling themselves than men are? I mean, if I were a business owner hiring two people with the same qualifications for the same job, and one of them asked for a lower salary than the other, I’m going to pay them what they negotiated for.

Why should I pay more than I have to before I know how you’ll fit with my company? I’m going to hire the most qualified people I can at the lowest price I can. That’s called “business”.

I have heard that women are much less likely to negotiate salary than men, and as a general rule raises and promotions are percentages of current salary/pay rate.

So yeah fail to negotiate when first hired, you might find yourself on the bad side of compounding interest as you climb the corporate ladder.
