The Park Police Raided Occupy DC. Just like how Boston did it they gave notice and ran the raid as a total surprise.

This keeps the violent racist protesters from fortifying their numbers with people willing to commit crimes for the cause. Good job!

Dozens of U.S. Park Police descended on horseback and foot upon the Occupy D.C. camp in McPherson Square before dawn on Saturday to continue an enforcement of its no- camping rules launched earlier this week.

At least three protestors who refused to leave the area around the statue of Maj. Gen. James B. McPherson were arrested.

U.S. Park Police Capt. Phil Beck told protesters they would be clearing the area around the historic statue, where protesters had erected a blue tarp dubbed the “Tent of Dreams,” and checking to see if there was unauthorized bedding in tents.

Sections of the park also will be closed for “nuisance abatement,” a police spokesman said.

Under the rules, protesters are allowed to conduct a 24 -hour vigil in the federal park but not camp out overnight.

Keep them on the run! If you want to play, play by the rules!

I thought I’d share this story because there is so many interesting angles in it:

The police department announced Friday that a narcotics officer and his sergeant have been stripped of their guns and put on desk duty amid an investigation of the officer’s fatal shooting of an unarmed drug suspect within a few feet of the suspect’s grandmother inside the family home.

The measures came after the New York Police Department backed away from an initial account saying that the officer had struggled with 18-year-old Ramarley Graham at the door of a bathroom. Police said a bag of marijuana was found in the toilet, suggesting Graham was trying to flush it away before the gunfire erupted…The shooting stemmed from an NYPD investigation of street corner drug dealing in a Bronx neighborhood. On Thursday afternoon, a police observation team identified Graham as a potential suspect and radioed to other officers that he “appeared to be armed,” Kelly said. In a later transmission, the officers mistakenly reported that “they observed the butt of a gun in the waistband of (Graham),” he added….A search of the apartment failed to turn up any weapons.

Now I’m not the guy who second guesses the cops no matter what they do. They’re investigating drug dealers and they allegedly saw the suspect was armed. I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt to assume if the guy struggles with you he’s trying to get his piece out of his pants to shoot you.

The battle looks clean from the incomplete facts presented…but what about the WAR? This was all about a bag of plant clippings. They suspected he was armed because they suspected he was selling plant clippings. People engaging in the illegal trade of drugs NEED at some point to do acts of violence against people because they cannot rely on the methods people doing honest work do for fraud, theft, and breech of contract.

For a bag of plant clippings. Can we rethink this for a second? Oh and then there’s this:

It was third time in a week that police had fatally shot a suspect: On Jan. 26, an off-duty NYPD officer killed a carjacking suspect during a shootout in Brooklyn. And on Sunday night, an off-duty detective shot a 17-year-old after police say the teen and another suspect hit the officer with a cane and tried to rob him in Brooklyn while he was walking to catch a subway to work. Neither of those officers was put on restricted duty.

In a fourth shooting involving the NYPD on Tuesday, a gunman shot an officer in the head after the officer responded to a report of shots fired in Brooklyn, police said. The shooter was caught about two hours after and was charged with attempted murder, they said. The wounded officer is expected to recover.

For a place that’s so “Safe” thanks to all their gun control there seems to be a LOT of criminals with guns, and a lot of cops shooting people.

Its almost like….nahhhh!

Just because Jason Kilgore AKA: “Baldr Odinson” is a troll and an all-around arrogant prick, I’m really amused by the hubris and stupidity shown here

And here

And lots of good discussion here

Seems that Mr. Kilgore was using his pseudonym to double his support. “Baldr Odinson” would write a post and Jason Kilgore would “like” it. “Baldr Odinson” and Jason Kilgore would often BOTH comment on the same facebook comment thread. They’ve since expired, but there were a bunch of Whitehouse Petitions , and many of the anti-gun ones were written by a “Jason K.” of Oregon, and signed by “Baldr O.” of Oregon (BTW interesting that “Baldr Odinson” *when he’s not in Valhalla* lives in Eugene Oregon, but Jason lives in the suburbs in a small lot bordering a warehouse district), but both of them are in the employ of Joyce front group Ceasefire Oregon.

This is just an extension of the anti-gun behavior. Notice that Joan Peterson is a Brady Campaign Board Member, and a Million Mom March Chapter Leader…AND a key player in the Joyce Foundation astroturf “Protect Minnesota”, three major groups that she’s a key player on.

Of course there’s the fact that NGAC is mostly made up of Active Brady Campaign and Million Mom March active members, or Lori O’Neil being such an anti-rights activists…but activly using the blank twitter account @GunSensus

Any wonder when people say “Gun Owners Support Tougher Gun Laws”, you wonder how many times each head was counted….

King Classy right there! Also let’s note that Maryland doesn’t generally allow commoners, like Teachers to have carry permits to protect themselves from attackers…and when that happens all it takes is a simple piece of masonry to do the dirty deed. Hey, but no “Gun Death”, so no big deal right?

So I just saw this on twitter

In this Exchange Hecate is discussing background checks with Lori O’Neill of NGVAC/Brady Campaign under her twitter account “GunSensus”. Hecate points out that criminals buying guns through private sales is a crime. O’Neill responds with:

Only if they have criminal or other records that prohibit them from possessing guns.

Huh? This is a common disconnect with antis. They frequently mention people like Seung Cho or Jared Laughner when it comes to closing the “Gunshow Loophole” (as do they mention Nidal Haasan when talking about the “Terror Gap”) But Cho and Laughner didn’t have criminal backgrounds, and Dr. Haasan wasn’t on the “Terror Watch List”, and all of them submitted to and passed a background check (Cho twice, waiting a few months between because of Virginia’s One-gun-a-month law) before committing their crimes. All of them had troubled pasts and had given huge amounts of warnings before they attacked….but the legal system took no action.

So they don’t want private sales even for people with clean backgrounds…but these same people will be able to buy guns in shops. So can we take this to imply they simply want to ban all sale of guns?

I’d say that’s fairly consistent with them.

Looks like Colorado is fielding a “Make My Day Law”

Colorado takes pride in its Western entrepreneurial spirit – and that extends to the belief of some lawmakers that business owners should be able to use deadly force against anyone who tries to take what’s theirs.

It’s an idea that conjures Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry, and its supporters have taken liberties with the hardboiled character’s famous line in naming their measure “Make My Day Better.”…”This bill gives business owners a license to kill when nothing is threatened other than property,” Democratic state Rep.
Well there’s a simple way to avoid getting shot for stealing stuff…DON’T STEAL STUFF! Not stealing stuff is EASY, I do it EVERY DAY! Of course reality is a tough mistress if you’re anti-freedom:

Holbert said the bill’s opponents raised concerns when the state passed a “Make My Day” law back in the ’80s.

“The opponents to that law were quite sure that we would have an increase in people just being shot on doorsteps, and that hasn’t been the case,” he said.

Holbert said, “This isn’t a blanket coverage to do bad things.”

Really, the “Blood in the streets” predictions is a load of crap? Who knew?

Well good luck Colorado. Any law that makes life worse for dangerous criminals, and better for people just going about their lawful business, is a good one!

So a little while back A Girl and Her Gun posted a review of Remora Holsters

She was motivated by this review

This review is also good:

I’ll also be frank, all ladies mentioned above are VERY pretty. If any of them don’t like that I welcome them to quit bein’ pretty!

OK well looking at these reviews it seems they meet a few carry issues we have in the Weer’d House.

I’ll start with me. My day-to-day carry is my Glaco Shoulder rig, and its the berries. Its comfortable, I can conceal it about 90% of the time year-round, it carries a full-size gun, and two reloads. That’s good-to-go for me, sometimes I’ll back up the 1911 with my PM45 and if I feel under-gunned it’ll be because I need a rifle.

Now there are two occasions where I don’t grab the 1911 out of the vault (outside of short errands where just dropping a smaller gun in my pocket is easier) is when A) I go to the Doctor’s office where I’ll need to undress or at least take off my cover garment, B) When its very hot outside and I’ll be spending an extended period of time outside in the sun where the straps for my shoulder rig will collect sweat and heat like crazy.

The Doctor’s office is OK as I’ll often still have a shirt where I can drop a reload into one of the pockets, but in the summer I don’t know where to pack a reload. The gun is taking up the pocket where my keys usually hide, I have to put my keys someplace (if I’m wearing cargo shorts I’ll throw the keys in the right lower pocket, the reload in the left lower…but normal shorts, or jeans, or slacks we have issues) And my wallet is in my other pocket.

So in the summer there are times when I might have JUST a 5+1 .45, or a 5-shot revolver. That IS under-gunned, and I don’t like it. That’s not a lot of ammo, and NOTHING to do if you have a magazine malfunction.

Now you should note from my carry methods, I don’t do belts. They’re uncomfortable on me, and I just don’t like them. When I saw the Remora Double-mag pouch, it looks like a winner for me.

I have a pair of TP45 magazines on their way from Midway for my PM45, but since they aren’t here, and I was carrying my 1911 when the package arrived, I loaded up a pair of Wilson 8-rounders and tucked them in my pants.

First up its strange how sticky these items are. They aren’t goopy or nasty, but you can’t just pull your pants out and drop them in, they just won’t want to go into your pants. Instead I had to undo my pants, seat the carrier, then button up. This was also very easy as the holster didn’t need a lot of attention to keep it where I wanted it. I put it at about 7:00 with the mouth of the carrier right at the top of my jeans. I then puttered around the house, did lots of standing and sitting, as well as some walking around. On a whim I even did a few short sprints down my hall to see if I could jiggle it loose.

I then walked down town to grab some take-out (GOT COLD last night!). After over 2 hours, the pouch hadn’t moved. Also the pouch retains the magazines even if I take the unit and invert it in my hand, but you get a VERY clean draw from inside your pants. I think I’ve found a winner.

Oh and while it fits the single-stack 1911 magazine like a glove, this pouch will fit a double-stack .45 magazine as well, so even if you have a G21 magazine to lug around, it should fit.

I also got a J-frame holster with the re-enforced mouth for Mrs. Weer’d. She did give it a precursory testing with a pair of dress slacks that I thought looked less than ideal, and the results were surprisingly good. She still needs to shake them down a LOT more, and I’ll keep you posted.

But I must say these seem like REALLY cool holsters, and the price is hard to beat. Give them a try.

On a final note my order receipt had a hand-written thank-you from Alan the owner on it. That’s a nice touch, Alan. And NO, thank you!
