Daniel Chong, the UC San Diego student who was left in a Drug Enforcement Administration holding cell for nearly five days, said the time spent there was a life-altering experience. On Wednesday, the DEA apologized for the incident….Chong said he was at a friend’s house in University City celebrating 4/20, a day many marijuana users set aside to smoke, when agents came inside and raided the residence. Chong was then taken to the DEA office in Kearny Mesa.

He said agents questioned him, and then told him he could go home. One agent even offered him a ride, Chong said. No criminal charges were filed against him.

But Chong did not go home that night. Instead, he was placed in a cell for five days without any human contact and was not given food or drink. In his desperation, he said he was forced to drink his own urine.

He even attempted to kill himself with the glass of his glasses. All for smoking some weed! Further yet another reason why citizens don’t need guns, because the Police will protect you!

Hey, but if he died, it wouldn’t be a “Gun Death”, or a “Gun Suicide”, so it wouldn’t have counted!

Very neat when you think of how much wind drift and bullet drop happens with an air rifle pellet!

One person is dead and another arrested after a stabbing in Minneapolis.

The stabbing happened around 10:30 p.m. Monday night on the 500 block of Cedar Avenue South. When police arrived, they found a man with stab wounds. He died at the scene.

Officers arrested a man near the scene of the stabbing and are investigating the circumstances of the crime.

No “Gun Death”, so no big deal right?

This from a man who on October 2, 2008, shortly before that evening’s Vice Presidential debate, said of Palin:

“Is this [vice presidential debate] about her brain power?… Do you think cute will beat brains?…Do you think she’d do better on the questions on Jeopardy! or the interview they do during a half-time?…My suspicion is that she has the same lack of intellectual curiosity that the President of the United States has right now and that is scary!”

Then on January 12, 2010:

They find these empty vessels who know nothing about the world! Nothing about foreign policy! Who immediately begin to spout the neo-con line. I read her book — it’s full of that crap….It’s unbelievable how little this woman knows!…Don’t put her on Jeopardy!”

And again on November 2, 2010:

“Senator, do you think Sarah Palin is qualified to be President of the United States?…If she were on Jeopardy! right now and the topic was national government, American government generally defined, would she look like an imbecile, or would she look okay? Does she know anything?”

And finally on January 19, 2011:

“I’d like to see her on just a couple of episodes of Celebrity Jeopardy! or It’s Academic Mac McGarry to just see if she knows anything.”

Heh, that would hurt if he wasn’t so divorced from reality. He’s probably either patting himself on the back pointing out that those dumbed-down questions were “really hard ones”, or more likely telling himself he was the winner.

It was a justified shooting. Every life is precious, but clearly the driver was within his rights. It’s just a shame that the boy was able to access a gun for this attempt and didn’t have the values necessary to avoid it.

Again the keystone of the anti-rights attack on lawful people: “Gun Availability”. You see the gun laws only assault the lawful. We argue that the criminal element doesn’t abide by the laws on the books, but the laws of society. As we know from the more heavily prohibited illegal drugs, ANYBODY can get Cocaine within a few hours if they know the right phone number to call. If you can get coke or crack which is 100% illegal, you can probably get a gun just as easily.

The anti-rights people note that the guns in this country start out as LEGAL guns, and then fall into the hands of criminals. So their solution is to restrict legal guns more.

Of course we know how well that works for drugs…

But Mr. Kilgore seems to miss the big point of this:

SOMEBODY was going to die in this incident. The 13 year old criminal had a loaded gun and was going to do some harm. The man in the car offered his defensive rebuttal with a loaded gun of his own.

Gun availability was how the criminal got his gun…but it was also gun availability was how the innocent man defended himself!

Now Mr. Kilgore thinks he can take the gun away from both. OK first that’s a fallacy, just look at the above prohibition of cocaine, but let’s pretend his fantasy can be made fact. He feels that he can take the gun away from both people, and would have stopped this violent encounter from happening completely.

That’s why I do “Gun Death?” stories. Even if you can take the gun away from both people, is Jason saying that the 13 year old criminal wouldn’t pick up a knife, or a hammer, or a masonry brick, and commit the same violent crime?

But in his fantasy world (which simply doesn’t exist anywhere in the world) the innocent man now is unarmed! Further, do you think, even at 13, this was the thug’s first trip to the Rodeo? Do you not think this little gem hasn’t been in a fight before? Hasn’t learned how to beat another man to death with a simple tool?

Meanwhile I know nothing about the innocent man, but generally the lawful people don’t spend much time as the criminals in the arts of violence.

I’m a gun nut, and I don’t spend much time. The advantage of having guns is I don’t NEED to. If I wanted to take up Krav Mega, or Kung Fu, it would take me vastly more time to master those skills, and I still wouldn’t be as effective as I am with a gun. (There’s a reason why so many American martial arts masters also have guns. If you can get a better advantage, why not?)

So again, even in Jason’s fantasy world the criminal wins.

OK that’s FUNNY!

When I first started shooting I thought the grip where your weak hand loops around the front of the trigger guard was a good grip. Heck there are a ton of guns where they knurl the front of the trigger guard, and/or add a finger rest for JUST this kind of shooting. Turns out I shoot better with my support hand wrapped over my strong hand with my knuckles pointed down range.

Still while qualifying to shoot at my gun club I took this grip…first with a S&W22A target pistol…then with a S&W M17 revolver. Thankfully the M17 is just a .22, and all I got was a nasty scorch mark on my finger, and a little pain. .38 Special, and certainly .357 Magnum or higher would have done some serious damage! Bigger Revolvers can cause Amputation! (GRAPHIC WARNING!)

Its one of those things that veteran shooters don’t really worry about, but when teaching new shooters you always need to keep an eye out. BTW another thing to look out for is crossing thumbs behind the slide of a semi-auto. That can get bloody even in small guns!

I would go a step further. A “Beta Male” type is the LAST person you want packed in a micro-environment with you. Bill essentially says it, but doesn’t expand on it. What is it that makes an “Alpha” vs. a “Beta”, he talks about Hollywood bravado, and action, but really its self-confidence. An Alpha is the person who will make a judgement call, trust their judgement, and act on it. Betas do the same thing, just they lack the confidence so they either don’t act, or when they DO act they do it in a way where they won’t be held accountable if they have a mistake.

Take the Bin Laden Raid, President Obama talks like he was right there in the compound holding a HK416 giving the Mozambique to Osama….but he was ready if the raid failed to pretend it never happened.

Have a look at the anti-gun activists. They talk their talking points all day long, but they won’t defend them to people who don’t agree with them. Further they constantly call pro-rights activists “Bullies” because we’re stalwart defenders of our rights, and are constantly calling the anti-right forces to the carpet for their lies and misleading information. Meanwhile they support every punitive law, attack people for simply defending their lives, as well as do all sorts of underhanded behaviors to attempt to control the message. When things get tough they hide behind a dead body. No, you’re not speaking out against the lies of the Brady Board Member, you’re attacking Joan Peterson’s dead sister! No you’re not speaking out for the right to self defense, you’re gloating that Sybrina Fulton’s son Travon was killed!

They use the term “Bully” and try and paint others as aggressive and boorish, but really its the other way around. Think about it this way, do any of you know a BIG Guy. The guy who’s just a marvel of genetics. The guy who maybe works out, maybe doesn’t, either way he’s the first to call when you’re moving because he can pick up a sofa, or a box of books like it doesn’t exist.

Are you scared around this guy? I know a bunch of guys who are that big and powerful, and as a rule they’ll take more shit from somebody before they react, and they’re generally vastly more easy going than the average bear. Why? Because they have nothing to prove, and know that when they react something is going to happen, and they have a pretty good idea what.

Meanwhile I think we all know a “Little Man”, a guy who just didn’t measure up to the rest of us. Not his fault, and nothing wrong with him, he’s just small. Now I know a few small guys who are very confident, but I know a bunch who have an issue with it. This is the guy who’s going to take a swing at somebody who said something off color.

Why? Confidence. They HAVE something to prove. They want people to see them as more than small. Further they aren’t confident in what will happen when they step off the line. Will they win, will they lose? That sort of variability can get ugly VERY fast, and can be dangerous for more than just the person doing the actions.
