Seems I’m Leading a Trend

Rockstar sent me this gem

The Alaska Distillery in Wasilla just recently launched its Smoked Salmon Flavored Vodka, about a year after the Seattle-based Black Rock Spirits introduced a bacon-flavored vodka.

Both savory spirits were intended to complement Bloody Marys, but are finding wider uses among mixologists.

I dunno about the Smoked Salmon, I bet it tastes very distinctive, but I have made myself (and have supplies to make more) bacon vodka, and I think its an amazing drink.

Of course the Martini is the king of the savory beverages, and my personal favorite for bacon vodka. I’m betting bloody Maries would also work VERY well with either of these spirits.

Also I plan on making some black-pepper vodka soon. That’s a VERY enjoyable spirit, as the alcohol seems to dissolve the pepper flavor differently than our aquaeus mouths do, giving a peppery, but different-than-pepper flavor.

Very neat. Look forward to vodka infusion posts here.

Ummm I would have to think about that. I prefer Scotch, neat or a whiskey like Knob Creek or Crown Royal. Flavored Vodka not so much. Maybe it is because my first drink till I passed out was in High School and the drink was Lime Vodka. I have not touched it since. Of course chasing by chugging some Windsor maybe did not help matters…

As long as it’s not gin.

I’ve also seen bacon beer. Not sure what it does to the head, but I bet it tastes good.

I saw this in the News(less) Miner this morning.
Just, UGH… Smoked salmon has that awful scent that lingers for ages on people who eat it. I can’t imagine the smell in a bar. Just, ICK.

Nothing wrong with bacon vodka, or pepper, or stuff like that… but FISH?! That’s going to give someone a really funky nasty next morning.

I dunno, when I splurge and buy me some smoked salmon its gone in a right hurry (With capers and creme cheese on an everything bagel….I’d imagine all of that stuff makes me REEK, tho I don’t get any complaints, even from Mrs. Bloodhound nose after I’ve brushed and flossed…and my farts ALWAYS stink)

That being said I’m not exactly sure WHAT I’d personally want to mix smoked salmon vodka with….and I certainly have no interest in drinking it straight. Still if you’re a bloody fan (I am not) I can’t imagine that would be half bad.

Also all the tomato and garlic and spices in a good bloody makes you stink too, so what’s a little salmon-scent between soused friends?
