Tasty! Do you have any to spare? The missus has never had swamp donkey…
Happen to have two patties, and a wife who hasn’t had it either. Maybe we should have a supah-beef and swamp-donkey night/lunch?
Ground swamp donkey with garlic and diced serranos “doing embedded work” inside the patties is “really yummers”. Old boss of mine liked to mix in a bit of Crown, too. I thought it was a waste of whiskey but it did add flavor.
Perhaps. We’ll be in touch.
Um. Chick from the city here. Whaaaaaa?
Swamp donkey = moose in Weer’d (Weer’dese? What does one call the Weer’d language?)
Thank you 🙂
Technically that term is used in North West Maine and parts of Central Canada as far as I can tell.
Honestly never heard the term until recently, but when you see a moose (especially a cow, or a bull without antlers) “Swamp Donkey” is about as fitting a name as you can get!
The next two items on the test for cultural literacy:
1. Slow Elk
2. Long pig
(“Swamp donkey” is a new one for me. I know what “marsh rabbit” is though.)
heh, just looked up “marsh rabbit” that’s pretty funny too! They any good?
Oddly enough I never heard “Slow Elk” either. In Maine shooting domestic cattle is often referred to as “Hunting Does” as the cow doesn’t have antlers.
Such kind eyes, that one.
*drink*
Mmmmmm… hairy.
Moose- The other other white meat
Yeah, ‘cept is ain’t hardly white!
I didn’t know AD was in Maine recently.
Believe it or not, you can kill game animals with things other than a pickup truck! 😉
From my understand, even pickups don’t often fare too well against mooses. I think you’d need to go from a 318 Dakota to at least a 768 Freightliner.
Heh, in all honesty, this was a smaller cow and she weighed over 900lbs, better to use a .30-06 from the other side of a potato field!
