A Rare Admission of Truth

From Joan Peterson of the Brady Campaign and the Joyce Foundation

But I know one thing that is not on my list this year for Christmas- a concealable hand gun. Such is not the case for a lot of others in the country. Sales of guns appear to be up this holiday season. The world of guns is so different from the world in which I live.

We’ve been telling her her for over a year now that the world she thinks she lives in isn’t reality.

I’ll take a turn of her own phrase, Try carrying a gun this holiday season! You don’t have to jump in with both feet, as a matter of fact, I recommend easing into carry.

If you’re brave and open minded, you’ll quickly find it isn’t as scary as you think!

Can you imagine a Road to Damascus moment with Joan Peterson?

    • Weerd Beard says:

I can indeed. I’m a convert from their church of non-reality.

That being said I hadn’t built my entire identity around that of banning guns and hating those who belive in individual liberty.

She would need to abandon everything that makes her who she is, and makes her a public figure for that.

Now with a legit conversion, it wouldn’t take much for us to welcome her into the fold and she could find happyness for the first time in her joyless life.

That being said she’s probably more likely the people we know who are in a loveless mairrage who simply stick it out year-after-joyless-year because they fear the sweeping change and stigma of divorce.

It’s her choice, and we shall act accordingly.

  2. Bob S. says:

Talk about the denial of reality !!!!!

The world of guns is so different from the world in which I live.

She owns Firearms or else she is a liar. She has admitted several times in print that she and her husband own fireams.

She and her husband own guns and come from a hunting family. They keep the guns locked in a metal safe

So she is saying the world she lives in is different from the world she lives in?

I do have to question the integrity of someone who says that having guns in the house increase the danger of someone in the house dying by those very guns – if she truly believes that; why allow the guns in the house?

Her contradictory positions lends no credibility to her arguments.

    • Pyrotek85 says:

I’ve been wondering about the ‘keeping a gun in the house increases your risk of death by gun by x amount’ lately. Is the effect cumulative, like does have twice the number of guns double the effect? Are there diminishing returns? What about the amount of ammunition?

      • Weerd Beard says:

        The effect is 100% made-up.

Keeping a gun responsibly in your home poses a near-zero risk. Keeping a gun irresponsibly (on a side note this is the method most often used by criminals who don’t keep guns legally…so they murder and commit violent acts with guns, and they’re also responsible for huge amounts of gun accidents) imposes a HUGE risk.

Of course things like staircases, swimming pools, and household cleaners still poses a MUCH higher risk…

  3. Groundhog says:

What I find most interesting is that her rights are not infringed one little iota. Not one person is trying to take away her right to NOT own or heaven forbid, carry, a gun. Her real problem is her fallacy in dealing with fear of violence. Gun control, knife control, club control, rock control, or “big hairy men with muscles” control will never fix it or make it go away. Human nature is what it is and all the PC crap of the last 50 years has done is put a damn huge muffler on it that some delusionally see as progress or evolution.

  4. Critter says:

I’m thinking that for each additional gun in the house the risk of death does not double, it squares. That means that my house is a Vortex Of DEEEAATHHHH!

  5. Joe in PNG says:

I think that it has more to do with the TYPE of guns over the quantity. To them, all guns emit Eeee-vil Gun Radiation (EGR) which eventually influences the owner to do evil acts like crime, joining the NRA, or voting for smaller government.
Thus, a couple of bolt action rifles and a pair of double shotguns has a very low EGR that can easily be contained inside of a metal gun safe- provided they are unloaded.
But, if one was to add a Semi-Automatic rifle to the mix, the EGR starts moving into the danger zone. At this point one may think that others have a right to own guns, or even defend themselves.
Handguns are especially potent sources of EGR, one that no gun safe can protect against. People with these will try to carry them everywhere, thus ensuring that the EGR radiates innocent bystanders. Your best bet is to put up Gun Free Zone posters to keep them, and crime, away.
But the most dangerous and potent EGR source is those military assualt guns with sholder things that go up, high capacity assualt clips, all in superpowerful copkiller calibers like 9mm or 7.62×39- both of which are more powerful than a hunting gun caliber like 30.06.

  6. Bubblehead Les says:

Actually, there are only 2 ways to carry a Concealed Handgun: Legally and Illegally. Well, 3, if you have those stupid Laws where the if the Wind blows open your shirt and you are “made,” and you get caught, you have to deal with Courts. The actual techniques ( i.e., Shoulder Holster, IWB, spare ammo, etc.) are just the Mechanisms used to carry an object around.

I always wonder why the Antis are so scared of Legal Handgun Carry. Realistically, those who choose to carry Legally are of much lower “Threat Level” than all the Goblins out there that pass the Antis on the Street all the time. Yet, they don’t seem to be able to deal with Reality and want to keep the “Playing Field” tilted in favor of the Criminals. There just aren’t that many Checkpoints, Metal Detectors and Cops out there to prevent the Criminal Element from doing their Evil Deeds. And I’ve never heard of a Robber walking up to a Convenience Store, looking at the “No Guns Allowed” signs and saying to themselves “Oh no, I better not try to take my gun in there!” But the Antis are MORE scared of YOU carrying than an Armed Crackhead looking to get some cash for his fix.

How they ever get to such Screwed Up Thinking is beyond me.

Of course, this doesn’t apply to those Politicians who use the Anti Gun Movement for Political Gain. Trust me, most of them know that a “Shoulder Thing that goes Up” doesn’t stop Crime one bit.

“I always wonder why the Antis are so scared of Legal Handgun Carry.”

Just take Joan at her word. Its because there would be MORE guns on the street.

Now, in her world…that means two things. 1) MORE gun violence (which doesn’t happen.) and 2) (which I think scares them more because it does happen.) guns become normal everyday objects.

  7. Linoge says:

I would take that admission to mean a great deal more if she was not working so sociopathically hard to make “reality” resemble the loony-bin run loose in her head…
