My Stance on Mitt

The Talking heads are doing their talking, and it seems that Mitt Romney is getting a lot of chatter now that Chis Christy and Sarah Palin aren’t running, and Rick Perry seems to be doing an overall horrible job at recruiting people to his side.

I lived in Massachusetts under Romney, as well as Deval Patrick who is more-or-less a Barack Obama clone. The difference between the two logistically is that Deval Patrick has been too incompetent in 5 years as Governor to manage to pass any relevant laws to hurt me….Mitt Romney on the other hand managed to raise taxes, pass Romneycare, and outlaw “Assault Weapons” indefinitely.

Let’s put it this way, do you think the Leftists think things are any better for themselves now with Barack Obama in the white house, vs. George Bush?

Obama is just a Brown George Bush, and Romney is a Mormon Obama.

Authoritarians suck no matter what party they belong to, and I’m concerned that Romney might actually ACCOMPLISH something…and if you ever find yourself nodding your head to this blog, whatever Romney manages to do, you’re likely going to hate just as much as you hated the Bush shit, and the Obama shit.

If Romney is the nominee I’ll throw my vote away to a third party and hope Obama wins again. At least he’s incompetent and people DO hate him. This will at least give the GOP (or an unlikely 3rd party) the time to grow the fuck up and quit pushing turds like this to the top.

Still its early yet, maybe we can notice what we’re doing and give Mitt his walking papers.

I’ve been leaning towards Cain. I know he has his weaknesses, but in my opinion he is the least disgusting of the bunch.

Also, I’d like to point out that it is not so much that the GOP is pushing these candidates, it is the GOP voters who keep approving of them. We have a lot of ground work to do to educate these supposed “conservatives.”

I hear all the time supposed Republicans say so and so is “too extreme,” yet I have yet to hear a liberal complain that a Democrat is too much a leftist. They can come out and say they’ll give everyone a spaceship (with wifi!) by taxing the rich and end all wars by appointing a karma czar, and yet anyone with a -D suffix with think they’re the best thing since Karl Marx himself.

I think I’m right there with you. I won’t vote for the “O,” but if he wins, at least we know he won’t be allowed to do much more damage. Cain I would seriously consider; he seems to be the closest thing to a conservative in the running. I’d like to see an independent candidate get enough votes to scare the bejesus out of both parties.

  3. Erin Palette says:

Perhaps it’s just my strangeness talking, but I would really like to see a Herman Cain/Marco Rubio ticket, if for no other reason than the Republican party seems to be the party of “old white men” and I’d like to see some diversity in candidates.

  4. Jack says:

    Hah!

And here I was drafting a post on the similar lines.

My fear with Mitty is that he’ll try to “fix” things. Why repeal Obamacare when he could make it better? This is the man who still stands behind his record in Massachusetts.

Hell, I’m sure that’s part of his thinking: “I fixed things in Massachusetts and by-gum I can fix ’em nationwide.”

Also at least with Obama there will be few republicans willing to go along with his schemes in the name of “bipartisanship”.

Same wouldn’t be true if Romney gets in.

I will say that Romney would be less incompetent and the media would actually salivate at reporting his misdeeds.

But that ain’t enough. Especially since competence isn’t exactly value-neutral.

    • Jack says:

On that last point I mean: Especially since competence isn’t purely a positive trait.

      • Weerd Beard says:

Hitler was a VERY competent leader…..just he was competent at evil. Competent just means you accomplish what you’re attempting to do. Steve Jobs made computers, Hitler Killed the Jews.

Obama wants to do evil, but is incompetent. Romney wants to do not as much evil but is competent. Which should you fear?

        • Jack says:

For that you’d need to weight evil and competence and see which has the larger resultant product.

But by the very fact that you are doing such a weighting shows that you should not vote for either person.

There’s picking the lesser of two evils (hint no one, NO one in politics is good).

And then there’s cases like this.

          • Weerd Beard says:

Yep, well I fully plan to toss my vote into the dirt (while dressed as Lynn Thompson) only as a last resort.

I’m a registered Republican not because I’m terribly aligned with most of them, but because I like to get involved in the primaries (and I like to be a thorn in the side of the ruling party) and for right now Cain does look like a decent alternative.

          • Jay G. says:

I see what you did there…

          • Weerd Beard says:

πŸ˜€ I’m gonna work a few buffets between now and next November!

  5. Old NFO says:

Romney IS a white Obama… I’m liking Cain better and better… Hell, he damn sure can’t do any worse!

    • Weerd Beard says:

I’m certainly with you guys, the Cain Train is still a train (I’ll be taking my truck to work because trains suck) but its looking like the best bet in town.

I’d like to hear more from Gary Johnson….but I suspect he sounds good to me only because I hear from him in short controlled snippets. In that context Ron Paul seems like the perfect candidate!

  6. Tango says:

We Mormons do not claim Romney. He’s a RINO and deserves permanent retirement.

    • Weerd Beard says:

I gots no problem at all with the Mormons (OK I’ll rib yous guys as much as any other religion) but When it comes to Romney and John Hunstman its the Authoritarian RINOS I hate, not the way they worship.

      Just to be clear πŸ™‚

  7. Thirdpower says:

I’m from Illinois. My vote is thrown away unless I vote (D). My dead Grandma in Chicago sees to that.

And remember, if the Lightbringer wins, he’s a 4 yr lame duck and can do anything he wants w/o worry of re-election.

    • Weerd Beard says:

Well remember, with the Democrat Super-majority he could have passed any law he wanted, and even the stimulus and Obamacare were a painful struggle….and I’m still not even sure how exactly ObamaCare passed. Even as a lame duck he’s still an idiot, and he WILL NOT have the Legislature on his side.
