Quote of the Day: Hand-Tip

The boycott is going to KILL me, but I shall be resolute! Look at this gem:

If you had your way, would even the type of firearm Hinkley used be unavailable to the average gun owner?

-Anon

Anon-No

-Joan Peterson

Hinkley used a 6 shot .22 LR revolver. You’ll note that the group Joan Works for is formally called Handgun Control Inc. It was a group created in the 70s with the expressed purpose to ban all handguns in America. That goal still exists.

Now here’s the kicker. If a 6-shot rimfire revolver is far too dangerous for civilians to own, why would they be OK with repeating centerfire rifles and shotguns?

What about repeating .22 Rifles?

If there is no logic in their first claim, you can’t expect them to act more rational by ceding ANY ground to them.

*update* I may have been a bit confused in the exchange. Maybe she thinks its OK to own a .22 revolver. But try to get her to clarify her position and the truth is clear.

Well, I guess I was wrong back on your Tricks and Traps post – she has absolutely no problems admitting that she wants to ban all firearms in America.

Because, let us face it – if someone wants to ban a .22LR revolver, everything is on the table.

    • Weerd Beard says:

Not 100% sure, if called on it she might claim she was just joking, or was misunderstood.

This might as well be known as the “Sparky Defense” for obvious reasons.

In other news Jeremiah Wright isn’t a venom-spewing racist firebrand…he’s a stand up comedian and all of America is just too stupid to get his joke!

      • Linoge says:

Seems as though the later commenters are correct – Joan has since clarified her position to indicate that such firearms would be available to the public. Of course, she blames the vagueness of her answer on the confusing nature of the question, but, really, how hard would it be to write, “No, I think those kinds of firearms should be available”?

Asking her to give any kind of clear, definitive answer is like trying to staple a jellyfish to a wall…

  2. LC Scotty says:

Maybe I’m mis-reading, but you asked if it should be unavailable, and she answered no. Doesn’t that mean she thinks it should be available?

I haven’t had my morning coffee yet and was up until 1 am putting dry-lok in the basement so I may be a bit addled…

  3. Bob S. says:

I’m trying to get it clarified also.

I may not be Spartacus but I am often Anonymous 🙂

Looking back I see how I should have phrased the question differently but I’m expecting the answer to be the same.

She doesn’t want anyone to have handguns, and very few people to have firearms.

  4. LC Scotty says:

Sorry Weer’d, I didn’t mean to say that you wrote the comment-it was still too early.

  5. wfgodbold says:

Yesterday, when he met with Obama, James Brady said that he wouldn’t be in his wheelchair if “we’d had commmonsense legislation.”

Since as far as I can tell, Hinckley wouldn’t have been disqualified by the Brady Bill, that must mean that the gun itself should have been banned.

    • Phssthpok says:

If common sense legislation would have stopped him from being put in a wheelchair, then the obvious take-away is that the laws against assault and murder, and specifically the double-down badness of doing such things against the government anointed, are *NOT* common sense.

Either that or it points out the futility of thinking that a bunch of words on a piece of paper will stop a determined individual from their chosen course of action.

As I’ve pointed out before, .such laws are merely PUNITIVE in nature…they are not, and cannot ever be, PREVENTATIVE.

  6. Remember that per that book on murders in Minnesota, her sister was shot with a stainless steel revolver. I don’t know the caliber, but I’ve assumed larger than .22. Someone could ask her.

  7. Pat says:

How many more press releases is BC going to do about James and Sarah Brady anyways…?

  8. Bob S. says:

Well she thinks that a .22 caliber revolver would be okay to purchase.

Let’s see what she thinks of my follow up question about Glock pistols used by VT & Tucson murderers.
