Holy crap I’ve met that guy! Hershel Williams, won the MoH at Iwo. He was a panelist at a symposium at a museum I worked for. Wow.
I’ll say this as well, those flamethrowers are might impressive, no matter which side you’re on. I seem to recall they do most of thier killing by asphixiation, sucking all the Oxygen out of those enlcosed bunkers and replacing them it with hot gases. Not a fun way to die.
Boy that was some crappy spelling that first post, sorry ’bout that. Beer is a helluva drug.
Most of the fuel they used in flamethrowers was napalm, at least by the end of the war. Sadly, our Living History program only allowed us to use a mix of gas and diesel. Not as sticky, but it impressed the hell out of the kids.
I abhor SOns of Guns- after the first episode I stopped watching it. I liked how he comes up with the “Masterkey Concept” – you know- the same concept pioneered by KAC like 2 decades ago. And shooting the FLARE LAUNCHER outside to “scare the neighbors”… Red Jacket will never see a dime from me.
Okay, I want him on close support and the sniper from last week up in the blind. Remember, Rule One states “Do not act incautiously when confronting a little bald wrinkly smiling man.
😀

That’s how napalm does most of its magic too.
Neat that you met him. I hope someday I meet a MoH Recipient.

Too bad, Napalm (at least from the recipes I’ve read) is pretty easy to make.

That made my day.
Bet those damn kids stay off his lawn…
Indeed. How do you say “No.” to a man with the Blue Ribbon around his neck?
I sure can’t! I’d give the guy a foot massage if he asked me, and he wouldn’t even have to do it nicely.
