To All You Truth About Gun Drones

Welcome, have a read, enjoy yourself.

If you came here because you were curious what the big deal was…there really isn’t one. But Robert is butthurt because I’ve written posts like
This
This
and
This.

Take it as you will. I’m just trying to make the world a better place for human rights, and blogging.

PS: I was never contacted about using my banner. I suspect that’s yet another copyright violation to add to his roster.

    Oh great, not this again.

    • Weerd Beard says:

It’s your art you gave me the bastard is stealing too.

Sorry about that. (Tho I will add that its the best that Jerk’s site has looked in years!)

      • alcade says:

If he is hotlinking you can upload a new picture with the same name and it will appear as such on his site in your banner’s place.

You could get a picture of Obama with a caption that reads “I agree with TTAG and support the second amendment rights of sportsmen and hunters!”

        • Weerd Beard says:

Nah he grabbed the image, and also cropped it (likely so he can claim copyright on the “altered” image) More of the same form him.

Can’t generate content on his own, so he steals. I kinda would have expected more traffic from a guy who uses so much SEO, and brags about his readership.

      • bluesun says:

So, uhhhh… bright side, free advertising?

        • Weerd Beard says:

Yeah. Still a single link from Tam or Uncle brings twice as many eyes to a post.

Dunno if his readers don’t click, or if his traffic numbers are fabricated, either way: Meh!

          • Andy says:

Interesting stat on click rates. I’ve noticed that TTAG doesn’t provide links with natural link text. I do read the gear reviews over there, and often when I want to click through after reading trying to find the links can seem like a chore.

Also, Farago claims he wants to foster “discussions” in the pro-gun community, but his discussion points often come off as immature. Perhaps that’s due to his too-cute-by-half writing style.

          • Weerd Beard says:

Better to read gear reviews from somebody who knows how to shoot. Farago is a journalist first, far more than a shooter, or even a car guy. The only person who I’d bother to read over there is Nick Leghorn. He’s a good guy, but he’s wrapped up in the wrong crowd with those thieves and antis.

          • Andy says:

I would agree. Leghorn is pretty much the most worthwhile read over there. He should really start his own blog.

          • Weerd Beard says:

If he did I’d pimp his site to high heaven, and I know several other fans of his that are not impressed with where he rights that would do the same.

      • Adam says:

I’m with you on the TTAG – I’ve been reading it for some time and though there are good posts I’ve recently been made aware of some of the more fishy stuff. I’ve had critical comments deleted as well.

The post you are referring to is a bit… childish. I’m all for refuting another’s views but you have to do it with some class, which Robert’s post flagrantly lacks.

Let me just say two things – 1) insulting people (calling them “drones”) is not going to win people to your side, I get your point but… honey. 2) Robert’s use of your banner image, in the context that’s it’s being used, probably falls under Fair Use. I know you probably don’t like him using it but griping about such things makes you look childish and a bit ignorant; I don’t think you either.

        • Weerd Beard says:

          1. You don’t sound like a drone to me. There are others that certainly do.

          2. Fair use or not, Mr. Farago has claimed (or lied) that he contacts people to get permission before using content for his blog. He also shows obvious contempt for the gun-blogging community as a whole. I think he exposed both things quite well, as well as the arguments I’ve made in the “drones” post you discussed.

Robert made that post because he wanted a reaction. Ignoring him would have been the best, but I would hope I did the next best.

  2. Bob S. says:

Do I detect a note of hypocrisy in Robert “Can’t Handle the Truth About Guns” Farago’s post?

He doesn’t want “persistent flaming attacks” on his site, but feels completely free to flame you in a post ?

Naw. Couldn’t be….he’s an ethical guy, right?

  3. Bubblehead Les says:

You know, that guy is going to steal something one day from the wrong person…..

    • Weerd Beard says:

Les, He’s constantly bragging about how many hits his site gets…but I’m seeing very little traffic from this link.

He always seemed to get a lot more comments back before he started stealing from Tam….So I think your prediction already came true.

  4. JR says:

DMCA him anyway. If it’s not substantially altered (cropping without further image editing isn’t substantial) I would say it’s still a copyright violation.

    • Weerd Beard says:

Nah, I’ll just leave the post as it is (Plus there are links below that lead to quotes of him saying he doesn’t steal, he always asks permission first.

He’s quite the liar, and I’m fine with the world seeing that.

    • Linoge says:

Unquestionably he will claim “fair use”, especially since the entire point of the post seems to be to ridicule Weer’d. ‘Cause, y’know, that is a great way to demonstrate how awesome he is.

      • Weerd Beard says:

already did. I’m fine with that. I have zero damages from the rubber ducks showing up on the TTAGs, but I do have much to gain from letting his precious few readers see what a jerk he is.

  5. These bearded guys take that shit serious. TTAG’s staff are, to a man, clean-shaven. ‘Nuff said?

Yup, and I’ve never been happier to have a beard right now.

Farago is a Dick. No doubt about it and if he was really doing well he wouldn’t be participating in these butt hurt games and complaining about a non-existent blacklist.

Is it a coincidence that these incidents come at the end of the month? I think not. It’s him stirring the drama llama to inflate his traffic scores from gun bloggers coming to look at the latest event.

  6. Linoge says:

I see someone already beat me to my line over at Farago’s site and here, but I will repeat it anywise: don’t be a dick. Farago is a dick (as this little stunt adequately demonstrates). People tend not to like that. And people who do like that… well, I find it very interesting that there is next to no overlap between commenters at Farago’s place and commenters at sites like Uncle’s – pretty much the premier firearm-related site out there.

    As I said, interesting, that.

    • Weerd Beard says:

Also somebody who regularly receives links from Uncle, he drives 3x the traffic I’m seeing now…but Mr. Farago always seems to pop up first in Search Engines.

Also it seems that every discussion with his readers are people who have only been reading for a few months and have no idea why we’re saying the things we are because they haven’t read him long enough to see him flip or feed the trolls…or troll himself.

I think the long-term readers have abandoned him, leaving just newbies and anti-rights fans.

  7. DC in Towson says:

Just came over from TTAG…just lurked there for a few months.

I’m sold, think I’ll take a look around your place. They have gone a little overboard with the whole “the government is out to get me” stuff. I have a healthy fear/mistrust of government in general, and unelected bureaucrats in particular, but the anti-cop anti-military shtick has grown weary for this Jarhead.

  13. Brigid says:

He recently lifted a photo from my sidebar without asking. Then had the audacity to put “courtesy of mausersandmuffins”. No link to me, just the name. Courtesy means “willingness in providing something needed”.

If you take it without asking that is NOT “willing”. It wasn’t copyrighted, but it still doesn’t make it right.

Weer’d – Thanks for keeping us all informed, and thinking.
