First let me say I’m all about training. Take a class, and log some range time, it will only benefit you. But when things go to mandatory training I think back to my mandatory Foreign Language training in Middle School. I took two years of French. I also took four years of Latin, as well as a simeseter of Japanese. The Latin is the only thing I got much use out of, and that’s coming from somebody who today can’t speak, write or translate Latin. I IS very useful in my Science career as many of the terms used are derived from Latin or Greek. I cannot speak or understand French. I cannot Speak or understand Japanese.
Why not? Well because I did nothing with them after I finished the classes. Same goes for ANYTHING else.
Neat little video on so many levels, but the ending point is that even with mandatory training laws in Canada somebody still managed to spend some time at the range shooting .308 Win ammo in a .30-06 rifle. Very lucky they didn’t blow up their gun, I’m sure this wasn’t great for the gun’s chamber or for the lands of the refiling.
In the end there is NO mandatory training that will make anybody safer if given a long enough time-line, and zero involvement beyond the mandated acts.
In this case mandatory firearms training is just a tax of time and money for a natural and constitutional right. Sorry!
They knew exactly what they were doing!
It was just a little experiment in homebrew wildcatting.
Just wait until you see how they rechamber that rifle for their new 45-08 cartridge.
Only wildcatters tend to police their precious brass.
That being said I totally want an FAL in .45-08. (More likely .44, as .44 Automag cartridges were wildcatted from a straight-walled .308)
It would be the ideal gun for both Swamp Donkey, Grizzly, and skunk-ape! ๐
I for one welcome our new wildcat overlords.
Although I was thinking that it could (maybe) be one of the crappy converted M1 garands that barfed the adapter. 8 rounds of 308 goes in, 8 pcs of wildcat-ready brass comes out. Target remains unscathed ๐
And I really prefer the 357amp over the 44amp, but you should have guessed that ๐
That would make sense. Was is just simply an extended forcing cone hammered in the chamber mouth? I could see how some carbon fouling and some sticky brass could get the adapter ripped out…also would explain the multiple of 8, as well as how somebody might not notice the fucked-up brass coming out of their gun.
Then again this is Canada so I belive 8-round En-Bloc clips MAY be banned, I think 5 is the magic number. I know I handled a Kanuki-Bubba SKS with a 5 shot mag on board, and I know a Kanuk with a Norinco M14 that he feeds in stupid 5-round boxes.
Maybe one of those ’06 Lever repeaters….
8 round en-bloc clips for the Garand are one of the few exceptions for semi auto centerfire rifles.
Ahhh good to know. That’s the likely story then. Especially if the .308 Conversion slug can be ripped out by a sticky cartridge.
If they were shooting a converted Garand, the ping of the enbloc popping out of the rifle may have scared the individual(s) fire forming there new brass.
For some reason, I’m not sure why, but I have the feeling that the phrase, “Hey, ya’ll watch this!” was uttered before they commenced fire forming their new wildcat brass.

And besides, it’s super hand for playing import console games, too. You’re missing out, man!

LOL, well played. All I can say for certainty is that that IS Japanese. Otherwise I have no clue. Translation?
“You claim you don’t understand Japanese?
Too bad. If you’d continued practicing, it could have been more useful than you expect.
For example, I read of the recent earthquake on twitter more than an hour before it was announced on the news.”
More or less, anyway. Japanese grammar is weird.
While I might keep my Japanese skills from rusting completely away via gaming and anime (and the internet!), I can’t say the same for Spanish. I took 3 years in high school and a semester in college, and I can’t remember more than a few words.
Very Cool!
