Blood Dancing 101

So everybody has heard about the Ohio School shooting. My condolences go out to the family. I’ll also point out that the details of the case are still very sketchy, and the alleged shooter is in captivity so time will tell about this story and I will comment when I have something to comment on.

I work on facts. The antis work on emotion. This leads to a phenomenon we call “Blood Dancing”, exploiting death crudely for political gain. Point 1:

.@BarackObama- #Ohio school shooting- kids should be safe in schools; NRA should not decide gun policy-8 kids shot daily-time to speak out

Does the NRA have a policy about kids getting shot? Is this kid not going to be charged with any crimes in Ohio because of NRA sponsored laws?

Of course not, its all bullshit, but they know it sounds heartless to call bullshit when somebody is exploiting death while the bodies are still warm. Point 2:

That’s the most important question. Most school shooters get their guns at home (65% according to the link below). Parents should be thinking differently about their loaded guns and their own views about guns when children live in the home. If you don’t think kids can find your guns, then you are living under a rock. Kids should be safe in our schools. Every day 8 children a day die from gunshot injuries. ( See Kid Shootings). In what other nation does this happen? Are we crazy? This school shooting is one of the worst according to this article from Reuters. From the article…We can pass more gun laws and we should. Making parents responsible for children getting their hands on guns would help. 28 states have some form of Child Access Prevention laws. Laws requiring mandatory reporting of lost and stolen guns may stop gun owners from being careless with their guns. Safely storing guns should be of utmost importance to keep guns away from the hands of children and teens as well as theft. Guns in the hands of children must first pass through the hands of an adult. You can read from the linked article above about the effectiveness of locking guns away from children. It works.

Let’s look at the above passage. First this screed is book-ended by discussion of “Safe Storage” laws, and how well they work. But we have Joan’s own words in her “Kid Shooting Blog”

Pro-gun activists like to claim that locking a gun is enough to keep it out of children’s hands, but most teens, when questioned away from parents, admit that they are able to get the key or know the combination.

Does it work, or doesn’t it work? Of course it doesn’t work, but Joan is in the business of pushing gun bans, but her organizations force her to fly under the radar and say “Gun Bans are off the table”.

As for what other nations does this happen? Just about all of them, and at just about the same rate as here. Shootings like this are very rare, but they happen all over the globe. Also in places with VERY strict gun control we have things like stabbing sprees. As for “Are We Crazy?” If by “We” we mean “Joan Peterson, and Members of the Brady Campaign and Joyce Foundation”, I’d say I’ve made an EXCELLENT case of showing that this small, extremist, block of people are quite irrational, and divorced from reality.

Joan gives more examples:

Meanwhile, just in case you missed another mass shooting while you were sleeping, this one took place over the week-end in Tennessee, also a state with gun laws that leave something to be desired. A shoot-out in a bar that takes the life of one and injures 19 others is just plain ludicrous and unacceptable. Where is common sense?

One dead 19 wounded, that’s a little high, but that’s an average weekend in a gang-infested inner city, even in places like Chicago and DC that had outright gun bans and mandated storage laws. You see but those victims aren’t sensational. Also those victims don’t get wealthy white people to reach for their check books. Last

Questions need to be asked and also answered. The answers will become very important to future discussions about how to prevent and abate gun violence in America. There are just plain too many victims.

Questions need to be asked and answered? That’s big talk from a woman who heavily moderates her comments, and ignores rational statements that don’t agree with her world view. As for preventing gun violence, what have you done Joan? there’s a question. Anti-rights people have NEVER been concerned with results, this post is FILLED with policies that are PROVEN failures (and in the case of “Safe Storage Laws” Joan even admits its worthless) but never once is she concerned about RESULTS. Only banning guns is relevant.

Still they talk about dead victims with zero concern for their situation.

This is called “Blood Dancing” and they SHOULD be ashamed of it, but they are not.

Are they insane?

Yes, yes they are!

Well, since this IDIOT decided to shoot up a local (TO ME) school, let’s see what we do know. A lot of Gun Laws were Broken, so those Failed. The shooter got chased off, then turned himself in. Ambulances arrived about 20 minutes later, with the Fire House just down the road. EMS Failed. Police showed up about 15-20 minutes after the calls stared coming in to 911, but the Police Station is just down the Road. LEO Failed. Then the First SWAT team arrived about a half hour after the shooting started, followed by the FEDs 15 minutes or so after that. SWAT Failed. Texting and Social Media worked Instantaneously, but some teachers who had their kids in Lock Down refused to allow their students to call 911. So that part Failed. Oh, and with a Shooter on the Lose, the Middle School across the Parking Lot never went into Lock Down, and the High School Principal decided to move his Students over there w/o there being any idea where the Shooter was. Another Fail.

In Fact, some Parents were showing up to get their kids before SWAT arrived.

EVERY DAMN THING THAT PETERSON SAYS WILL STOP THIS MADNESS FAILED!

You know what stopped the Shooting? The Shooter.

Of course, the local Media has gone Ape (“If it Bleeds, it Leads!”), and it’s gone Viral around the World, with the Usual Anti-Gun Suspects shoving their Faces into the Cameras. And the Candle Light Vigils are all over the place, and I’m sure that some of the Pro-Freedom Bills that were working their way to through the State House are now going to be Tabled. And you know they’ll be a Yearly Memorial Service and a Monument put up. The Shooter will probably spend the rest of his Life in the Pen, because the Supreme Court ruled a few years back that no one under 18 gets the Death Penalty. And a lot of Families will be devastated, including the Shooter’s. And a Kid will be buried, and others are holding on in the Hospital, and if they Live, they’ll be hurting for the rest of their lives.

But you’re right. The Only Winners in this whole damn mess will be the Blood Dancers.

And the Losers will be a Dead Kid, Devastated Families, a small town that had now has to deal with a Disgusting Reality that anyone can be a Shooter, even they own kids.

I hope Peterson realizes that One Armed Teacher with a CCW License could have cut the Losses down. There were some in the Cafeteria. But then, how could she Dance?

Then there’s this. Got it via Instapundit: “HAVE YOU NO DECENCY? Politicizing the Ohio School Shooting.
Remember that whole “new civility” thing? Me neither.”

    • Thirdpower says:

And you won’t hear Ladd Everitt criticizing him.

    • It amazes me that a supposedly learned scholar of the constitution would make such an error in interpretation. If one wants PROOF of what the framers meant by militia, one only has to look to US Code Title 10. Here, let me:

      10 USC CHAPTER 13 – THE MILITIA
      10 USC Sec. 311

      TITLE 10 – ARMED FORCES
Subtitle A – General Military Law
PART I – ORGANIZATION AND GENERAL MILITARY POWERS
      CHAPTER 13 – THE MILITIA

Sec. 311. Militia: composition and classes

      (a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied
males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section
313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a
declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States
and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the
      National Guard.
      (b) The classes of the militia are –
      (1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard
      and the Naval Militia; and
      (2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of
the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the
      Naval Militia.

That’s US FEDERAL LAW (Note, I removed some of the headings etc. to make it small enough, i hope, to fit as a comment). It explains, rather plainly without much wiggle room, who is a valid member of the militia, and since we no longer discriminate by age or gender in this nation, I submit that if the Second Amendment protects the rights of men, aged 17 to 45, and women in the National Guard, then it must protect the rights of everyone equally.

+1 on Les, I can’t say it any better… of course nobody is looking at (or publishing in the MSM), the abject failures here…
