Carry Your Damn GUN!

Lucky is what these guys are!

A 6-year-old Texas boy is recovering after being attacked by a mountain lion while walking with his family at Big Bend National Park.

Yikes!

β€œIt sneaked up on me,” Hobbs told the station.

Cats’ll do that. Don’t matter if they’re big or small, their gig is being sneaky.

The boy’s father, Jason Hobbs, pounced on the mountain lion as it clamped onto Rivers’ face. Hobbs ultimately stabbed the animal in the chest with a pocketknife, causing it to flee.

“The cat was clamped onto his face, I reached down and got my pocket knife out and stabbed the cat in the chest and it let go at that point,” Jason Hobbs told the station.

He’s lucky to be alive, and lucky that the pocket knife was enough to discourage Mr. Kitty. He’d be better suited if he had a pistol and switch to the knife when his gun ran dry and the kitty was still holding on.

Remember, guns are legal to carry in National Parks.

Carry yours!

Carry guns are legal in national parks if you’re licensed and the state surrounding the park allows carry and recognizes your license.

I do have to admit to a measure of sympathy with the cats. I understand that they enjoy snacking on joggers in California. It’s not enough to carry a gun, though. A hiker also must be aware. As you noted, the felines are sneaky.

Be alert, but Felines are pro sneakers, and it isn’t something to be ashamed of if one gets the drop on you.

I’ve seen video of tiger attacks in India and there is NO way you’ll know until its too late.

True enough. And they are all muscle. Sadly, I had to put my old gentleman cat to sleep today, and I’ve known a lot of so-called human beings who didn’t come within hailing distance of his worth.

Wait a minute! Jason and Hobbs are from different strips!

Yep, thankfully he had a weapon and the mental strength to use it.
