Gotta love this, shooting an IDPA match with an old Walther P38!
Don’t want to run a glock or a 1911 like everybody else! 🙂
Looks like he had loads of fun dispite the crappy weather, which is the whole point!

Know your gun, and run what you know. I love seeing unusual guns show up at matches. Makes it extra fun.
Wonder how many real world combat deaths the Walther P-38 caused during WW2?
Of course, shooting Prisoners in the Head doesn’t count.
But in spite of the uber Tactikool polymer pistols of today, anyone who has a Military Surplus weapon in good shape in a decent caliber should not feel that they are under gunned at all.
I was rather considering doing one with a vz.52…
So what you’re saying is you don’t have a VZ 52, because anybody who HAS one wouldn’t DARE compete with that ball of fail.
Love my VZ 52, but every time I think about shooting it I talk myself out of it.
Sitting on my desk right now.
Never shot it yet.
Still would be funny, fail or not ;).
As cool as that was, the Cowboy Bebop music made it hard for me to think of anything else.
😀
I used to shoot SSR in IDPA matches with a Colt Detective Special. I even used it at a state match back in 2001. I didn’t win any awards other than moral superiority over the folks with their S&W M625 and M610.
In the early 1990s, I lived near an indoor range that ran a psuedo-IPSC match. One fellow loved to be different, and would lash up holsters for just about anything he could lay his hands on. For one match, he used a HK SP89, and at another, he ran a Desert Eagle.
