For Wally

And what’s scary is not ONLY for Wally. SIG has released a 1911 in .357 SIG.

Wally has been threatening to build one of these for as long as I’ve know the misguided fella. What’s scary is SIG wouldn’t just build this for Wally and Wally alone…so there are more people as messed up as Wally out there.

That makes me very afraid.

    Rightfully so Weerd!

I shelved my 357-11 plans in favor of the 357-16 but may do a 1911 just to one up sig. You know, do it without MIM.

  2. Caleb says:

When I got the original email about it, I was kind of thinking “uh, what?” And then the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I want one.

  3. Dwight Brown says:

Would .357 SIG really buy you much over .38 Super, especially in a +P loading for the latter?

    • Weerd Beard says:

Well first up .38 Super Automatic is just .38 Automatic (ie: Colt 1900 cartridge) Loaded to +P so there is no such thing as .38 Super +P….tho because you can chamber your .38 Supers in the old Colts ammo makers in the US stamp +P on the heads just to make sure you know what you’re doing.

But overall .38 Super and .357 SIG and damn close in ballistics, just the SIG is easier to find, cheaper to buy, and because .357 SIG is a rimless cartridge and a bottle-neck, vs. a straight-wall semi-rimmed, you’ll avoid a lot of reliability pitfalls.

      Now granted I see no point in a .38 Super 1911….so there’s that…

  4. Greg Camp says:

Yup, having heard about it, I want one. I guess that’s why I get called a gun nut. Just what I need, though–another caliber.

  5. Jack says:

    Hmmm….

Could have it and the Coonan fight it out (yes I know they’re different calibers).

  6. Bubblehead Les says:

Yawn! 9mm, 9mm+P, .38 Super, .357 Sig, put them all in the 124/130 weight class, they all go about the same speed. Heck, if you put a 125 Grain 357 in Jay’s “Snubbie from Hell”, I’ll bet you find it Chronos around the rest of the pack, due to it’s short barrel.

If I’m going to play with the Nines, I’ll just keep it simple and do the 9mm. Lots cheaper that way.

But I don’t do the Gun Games like Caleb, so making “Major” is not important to me.

Besides, if my bullets start with “.3”, then they’ll be followed by “08”, or “Ought 6”, or “o3 British.” Everyone KNOWS that Semi-Auto Pistol Ammo MUST begin with a “4!” ; )

    • Weerd Beard says:

We’re on the same page, Brother.

Just give me a gun in 9×19 rated for +P and I won’t complain none at all!

      • Greg Camp says:

My use for 9mm is presently limited to a Kel-Tec P-11. It fits into my business casual pockets, making it a good backup or even primary when that’s all that I can conceal.

Of course, I will have a Browning High Power someday. I will!

Looks like my wife will be getting a 1911.
