Immortality

I thought about this last night, and decided to look it up. Before I head out to work I’m listening to Vicious Circle 108 simply because Newbius was on it. Like I remember him he’s being funny, and speaking lovingly of his family. He’s gone now, and we miss him. Strange how the internet can be a magical time capsule where the dead still live.

Same also with William whom I first “met” on this episode of Vicious Circle, I later met him for reals at the NRA convention in Pennsylvania.

I also never met Meleanie Hain or even corresponded with her, but she also left her mark on eternity.

A little maudlin, but that’s how I’m feeling right now. I am better having known them. We miss you.

  1. Even if its difficult, it is nice to remember those people who touched our lives.

Yeah as I was going to bed I was thinking about Newbius and I remember he was a regular on VC, and I realized that I could easily hear his voice again and hear him tell stories and give his opinions, and I wanted to hear that again.

      I’m very glad I could.

I’m going to Maine this weekend, I may ask Dad to dig up some of the old home videos, because I was trying to remember my Grandfather’s voices and I really can’t remember them clearly. Thankfully its on record.

Makes me want to go through the VC archives.

I’m pretty sure I was a listner at that time.

On a related note, I was never that “big” into cameras and taking pictures and movies on vacations and such. And now I’m really starting to regret that.

Such is life. At least technology is making such archival much easier.

Breda, Breda’s Mom, and I were able to make it William’s Funeral Service. Wish I could have made it to Newbius’s. What’s going to Suck is knowing that at some of upcoming Blogshoots, there’ll be a couple of missing Friends on the Firing Line.

It’s not maudlin, it’s the sign of a generous heart.

Yeah. As I say whenever anybody passes who I’m sad to see go. We’re all going to die one day, the best any of us can hope for is to be remembered widely and fondly.

Shame Newbius had to go so young, but he is missed, and is remember fondly from a wide range.

I was just looking at pics from the NCII shoot the other day. Newbius had a ball getting his wife familiar with the 1911 and showing Breda the Drilling. I miss him and William both. 🙁
