Pro-Ignorance, Anti-Freedom

I’m sure you all have seen the various gnashing of teeth and clutching of pearls from the antis about our little meaningful vigil.

What interests me is that not only are they after our freedoms, and attacking us for exercising them, but it appears they never even read our words. Rather choosing various slanderous things to say such as the fact that we’re “Laughing” at victims or other such nonsense.

Again candles don’t save lives, we’re concerned with results, they aren’t, and they’re infuriated at being called on it.

What’s also interesting is how much nasty stuff they’re saying about us, but with the exception of Baldr Odinson (Not his real name), and this Scripture citing charlatan , they haven’t actually been very interested in actually ENGAGING us.

Really they want to bully and intimidate us in effort to get us to shut up or go away. What’s amusing is all of us are just regular people. The participation in my vigil was far and wide, but there were no politicians, NRA Board of Directors, Heads of any Lobby or PAC groups, or even any Major Celebrities. The biggest player we got (and it was after-the-fact) was Massad Ayoob who is an accomplished Author, Trainer, Peace Officer, and Expert Witness, but unless you’re the tiny few people who can say what the initials “IDPA” stand for, you likely don’t know who he is, nor would you recognize him on the street.

So for all their efforts (and Paychecks, as the people doing the attacking are actually PAID to do this), what would they accomplish if they had 100% success?

What would they get if I shut down my blog and turn in my guns at the local “Buy-Back”? NOTHING, there are still millions more like me, and we’re vocal, and we vote.

How many are there of you?

  1. Robert says:

They’re just snivelling, like statists always do when they are on the losing side. They view us as gloating, which is what they did when they were in the ascendant.

  2. RedeemedBoyd says:

There aren’t many of them, that’s for sure.
When you sit down and apply some simple logic to their course of action, it becomes obvious what they’re doing. And it’s despicable behavior.
As for myself, in their shoes there is no way I could look at myself in the mirror knowing that I was quite literally mocking the deceased to draw attention to my pet beliefs, and not hate myself for it.

  3. mike w. says:

“How many are there of you?”

Depends on which one of me you ask.

    • Weerd Beard says:

heh! Well there are at least two, because last night the wife was noting how amusing your comment to “Truth and Lies” about being the idiot in the bunch because of your Poly-Sci degree, and she didn’t realize that was the same Mike I was always talking about.

Seriously, that was a question for Ladd to look around his office and just see how many bodies they have to their cause.

  4. George says:

My crappy, third-tier gunblog has a higher Alexa rating than the blog that shall not be named. And I’m sure most of her traffic comes from gunnies.

  5. Kay.Ess. says:

“and we’re vocal, and we vote.”

I know this is off-topic, but I remember you saying you were voting for the incumbent this November, Weerd. Personally I think that will be counterproductive to our cause.

    • Weerd Beard says:

Depends Kay. I’m voting AGAINST Scott Brown this Fall, but I may be voting FOR Barack Obama (or possibly for a 3rd party that will have the likely effect of Ross Perot) but its ONLY because Mitt Romney is a KNOWN threat against our rights, and I was a first-hand witness to it.

      • Gen says:

For all the fears that people had on Obama “cracking down” on gun ownership etc, has anything actually come of it?? I have a few friends in the firearms industry, and they’re busier than ever, and from what they’ve said, gun purchases in general have gone UP. If this is a crackdown, it’s a pretty lame one…

        • Weerd Beard says:

Short answer is “No”, Obama hasn’t been bad on guns outright. Really his big issue is Fast and Furious which as far as anybody can tell was intended as the launching platform for the Assault Weapons ban. Still that was exposed and shut down and right now it sits as a scandal as big as Watergate…except nobody was murdered in Watergate.

As far as his past goes Obama was a Joyce Foundation board member, and a Chicago politician…but overall his resume is mostly a lot of nothing and voting “Present”.

Meanwhile Mitt is a card-carrying gun-banner and somebody who has personally made my life as a Massachusetts gunnie miserable.

So while Obama likely has no love for armed citizens, he’s not as openly hostile as Mitt is.

I will NOT vote for Romney.

      • Thirdpower says:

I saw the light bringer in (in)action here in IL. Since my vote is cancelled out by my dead grandma’s in Chicago anyway, I’m going 3rd party.

  6. Bubblehead Les says:

How many of them are there? Don’t really know. But I have enough people on my side that it really doesn’t matter. You might know them. Mr. Browning, Mr. Smith, Mr. Wesson, Mr. Mossberg…..

  7. Kay.Ess. says:

I see your logic, Weerd, but I think I’d rather have an anti-gun RINO on his first term in office than an anti-gun Progressive on his last term.

    • Weerd Beard says:

A valid point, and if you think that’s the best for the nation by all means vote that way, we’re looking at a risk no matter what, so I won’t spend too much time trying to convince smart people how to vote or how to see things.

I will say that as far as the President goes, we will likely be looking at a MOTIVATED anti-gun RINO with the possibility of a large body of partisan support on their first term, or an UNMOTIVATED Anti-Gun “Progressive” with a hostile Legislature on his LAST term.

Knowing that plan your vote how you see fit. I will ALSO add that if a RINO (anti-gun other otherwise) gets elected, even if its because the opponent was simply too unpopular and abhorrent, the party players will STILL see running a RINO as a mandate and will support future runs of such people.

      As Tam said wonderfully.

“Keep ordering syphilitic camel, and they’ll just stop putting anything else on the menu, as a quick look at the current GOP field will tellingly point out.”

Food for thought…but again don’t take any of my enforcements or recommendations as a good idea, because I don’t see anything good on the horizon for November.

  8. Bob S. says:

I found it interesting that Baldr was trying to dictate who we show sympathy or mourning for the victims.

As you say, not only our 2nd Amendment rights but our 1st Amendment Rights.
I mourn the loss of every victim, I just have no desire to see my wife or kids forced to be in the role of passive victim.

And that is the goal of the antis.

    As far as the Scripture

Jesus said to St Peter that those who live by the sword shall die by the sword. Today’s sword is a gun.

Jesus was destined — and accepted that destiny freely to die on the cross for our sins.
Jesus was pointing out that He didn’t come to die as a rebel fighting with the sword but as that willing perfect sacrifice.

If people would take note, Jesus didn’t tell Peter to get rid of the sword but to put it up — not because Jesus renounced violence but it was not the time or place.

And Jesus entered into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of he money-changers,
and the seats of them that sold the doves; Matthew 21:12

People should also note that Jesus stated the Kingdom of Heaven was ready to do violence IF it had been God’s plan —

Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels? Matthew 26:53

Nor do those who selective quote the Bible consider God’s unchanging nature — just exactly how does God renounce violence when he directed the people to kill as a punishment for some sins, to kill everyone in the Promised land eh?

    • Weerd Beard says:

There’s a reason why I called who is essentially a stranger to me (tho a quick google search showed him to be somebody walking lockstep with the anti-rights types) a “Charlatan” I don’t use those words lightly, and tho I am not a Christian I’m still offended when people pick-and-choose holy scripture to push a political view not seen by those the scripts were about.

    • Pyrotek85 says:

Don’t forget the ‘thou shalt not murder’ being mistranslated as ‘thou shalt not kill’. I can’t fathom how anyone could believe the latter is correct when it would be a huge contradiction to the rest of the Bible, but the former would not.

      • Weerd Beard says:

Yeah, that’s such a short-sighted argument. Are they saying all soldiers at war are going to hell? Police that have to kill dangerous suspects are going to hell? How about biblical heroes? King David and Samson did a TON of killing, and are spoken of as Pius servants of God….but they went to hell for committing the mortal sin of “Killing”?

Could that be, or maybe that particular translation is bad….which do you think?

    • MAJ Mike says:

      Psalm 144.

  9. Jack says:

It really speaks to their mentality that they see this as some organized top-down effect.

Again they can’t conceive the “common rabble” being anything other than stupid dangerous sheep.

And there’s them wrapping themselves in the mantel of victims. Because to counter protest the antis is to insult the dead. They really do see themselves as the avatars of the “true victims” and feel that they are immune from question.

Even when someone like AGirlAndHerGun or another speaks up.

  10. phelan says:

I sometimes wonder if they have actually been a victim of a violent crime. Or if they have yet to move out of the victim stage in life. I actually feel a bit sorry for those that are stuck. I was for awhile, but once I decided to take control, everything changed for me.
