Taking of Pelham One Two Three

Saw the 2009 re-make when it was on Netflix and I really liked it. Watched the 1974 Original film last night.

Every time I see a movie with Robert Shaw I get really angry that he up and died at 51. I mean why can a man so talented die so young, but hacks like Richard Gere are still making movies?

I miss you Robert Shaw!

Shaw had style and charisma; I don’t think I ever saw him put out a bad performance that I can remember.

I first saw him in “Force Ten from Navarone” when I was a child. ABC, if I recall correctly, had adventure movies on Sunday afternoons. Such fun.

The wonder is that any of Shaw’s generation of actors lived past their fifties, given the wild living they got up to. Peter O’Toole survived, somehow, but those actors all gave us great films while they lived.
