Anti-Gun Catch 22

You’ve read it a million times. 99.99% of all Americans support xyz gun laws! COMMON SENSE! Seems a cut-and-dry argument for us pro-gun monsters to be crushed. Except we have the “NRA Corporate Gun Lobby!”. You see, since there is so much money in the NRA they simply can’t pass laws. You know, the NRA buys off politicians, and then pays off voters to vote for those politicians who vote against their wishes because damn near everybody wants gun control!

Except Michael Bloomberg is flushing money into the political scene, and now this:

Americans for Responsible Solutions, the super PAC founded by former Arizona Rep. Gabby Giffords and her husband, Mark Kelly, announced Tuesday that it will invest millions of dollars in seven Senate races and four House races across the country, bolstering candidates — including two Republicans — who support stricter gun laws and are facing tough elections.

…The organization did not specify how much money it will put into each race but said that the funds would be used toward television advertisements, direct mail and digital communications. The group said it has raised $14.5 million in donations so far and is on track to meet its fundraising goal of $20 million by the end of the election cycle.

So if the anti-gunners are right, you can simply BUY elections, and if you have support of a overwhelming majority, that is further compounded.

All in, antis, show me your cards!

” . . . [O]ther dangerous people . . .”. That’s how ARS’s Web site describes one category of persons who ought to be denied gun ownership. You don’t need me to tell you what sort of civil liberties/property rights mischief is in those words.

Yeah, if we take the antis at their word then not only do they have sympathetic media and academia, generous funding, and, so they say, a strong majority of the population.

Which means their failure to make headway really shows them to be clumsy and incompetent.

Or, as I say as I push my chips into the pile, they’re incorrect and are making the false claims because they are a VERY unpopular group.

See also Bloomberg having to bus in, and likely room and board his protestors for an NRA con of 70,000 2nd Amendment supporters.

Man, I’m getting an education, all right. Here’s what the anti-gunners are saying to me: “Jack/OH, we know you’ve had very rare personal safety concerns where you considered buy a handgun. Don’t worry, we don’t give a rat’s behind about that. We will make it harder for all law-abiding Americans to buy handguns through mischievous legislation, suffocating regulation, outright abolition if we can pull it off.”

Yeah, I guess we’ll all live happily ever after, too. (I sold my Mauser HSc back in the early 1980s. Should’ve kept it.) Thanks to Weer’d World and the other commenters for opening my eyes.

Thanks, bro’. Great Web site, great posts and comments. I’m probably “commented out” for now, but I’ll need to look in once in a while for a dose of sanity. Yeah, the 2nd Amendment is all about lawful citizen-sovereignty. Best wishes.
