   I shared this with a military buddy of mine and we took a good look at the video. we agree that the cop did the best thing and got good hits when shit hit the fan.
   however we do believe that the cop should not have advanced forward while shouting orders at the kid. While it may be a visceral reaction for the cop to move forward and shout, it probably helped escalate the situation, we are pretty sure, due to the cop’s aggressive stance and demeanor, that if the kid dropped the knife and started to run away, the cop still would have shot him.

   But ultimately, the kid did the dumbest thing possible and those shots fired were completely called for

     Yeah, I was yelling “Stay by your CAR!!” when I first watched the video. But again being a cop and being a civilian is different. Maybe he thought he might have to quickly cuff the guy, or that he may need to chase him.

     Still looks like it all ended as it should, so no need to keep score. But I agree with your assessment.

   I think that antis should be required to view this; and then ask which ‘less lethal’ means of self defense would have kept the victim (in place of the cop) safe in the face of a knife attack.

   The kid covered the distance quickly, even expecting it, the reaction delay is still evident.

     Also note the kid seems a bit off-balance from whatever junk is in his system, so he actually was moving pretty slow too.

     VERY scary stuff!
