I AM an Aliens Fanboi

OK Resurrection sucked, despite the great cast, and Joss Whedon script and obvious comparisons to Firefly.

Still this stuff is AWESOME!

Militaries grow due to perceived threat. In Resurrection, the research ship was HUGE. And the apparent military that it supported was also huge. The Aliens were not considered a threat, but an infestation. So……. what is in the Alien universe that forces such a military development? I think that universe should be further explored and could be as rich as the Star Trek universe.

Even the second movie mentioned bug hunts (other aliens) and they were COLONIAL Marines. So….what’s up with the colonies? And are there other forces out there?

VERY interesting observations, and one that I’ve never seen raised in any of the cannon Aliens stories (mostly novels and comic books). I too wonder about the “Bug Hunt”, which I always assumed meant sending Marines in (likely as support for Weyland Yutani scientists and engineers) to isolate and capture Alien life. This seems likely given the nature of the “Engineers” featured in Prometheus.

Still very little is said ANYWHERE about the Political Climate of the Aliens universe except that the Weyland Yutani Corporation seems to have vested interest and control over virtually everything in the Universe, as they seem to hold patents and distribution of virtually everything in the world, from the spacecraft, to resource gathering, planet-side habitats, and Terraforming reactors.

There still needs to be a MASSIVE step to go from our world of National Governments, to a corporate Monopoly controlled universe. Maybe there was a simple cross that the Corporations spearheaded space exploration.

On that theory Richard Branson could be the real-world Charles Bishop Weyland….
