I really like the SCAR…I like the SCAR-17 better because I like .308 better.
I don’t much care for muzzle brakes because they just aren’t worth it with infantry cartridges IMHO, and as you see in the video it makes them OBNOXIOUSLY loud. I frequently shoot on an indoor range, and those guys with the braked .223 rifles really bother me.
Also a good question for Wally, how hard would it be to convert one to .300 BLK? Wouldn’t it just take milling out a new Barrel?

300BLK is a replacement for the .223/5.56, so if it’s possible to do it makes more sense to do it with the SCAR Light.
Exactly what I was going to say. Redoing a 7.62x51mm based rifle to take a 5.56x45mm based cartridge is WAY more work — think on the order of converting an FAL to 5.56mm, as opposed to a simple barrel swap to convert an AR15 to .300BLK. Barrel, gas system, return spring, bolt head, feed path — when starting with a 7.62mm rifle, all are wrong for a .300BLK.
You should revisit your opinion on brakes. I run 3gun stages as RO and, not only are you in the minority on your idea of muzzle brakes, I see the outstanding results every time when they are in use. The splits on both 7.62*51 and 5.56 are hugely better whether running a Battlecomp or JP or any recoil reducer.
Are they loud as hell and irritating? Hell yeah. They even feel like they are going to loosen dental fillings sometimes, even when I am directly behind the shooter. But they GREATLY change the game on follow-up shots. Cheers.
The 223 scar can be rebarrled in 300BLK without much effort.
Muzzle brakes? Just run a supressor… mitigates recoil and cuts down on the noise.
If they weren’t NFA items I’d have one on EVERYTHING I OWN!
Hell I’d get my damn revolvers threaded BECAUSE!
Concur.
