   I always have the urge (sometimes controlled, sometimes not) to write “SO WHY DID YOU WRITE IN IT???” when I see that.

     To let you know that it was supposed to be blank, of course.

     The phrase is something of an artifact from old mimeograph machines, wherein pages would occasionally come out blank, and unintentionally so, but no one would notice… thus, the end user of the document would be shy a page of data, and never be the wiser.

     Still, as artifacts go…

         Alcoholism is a disease, but as far as diseases goe it’s a pretty good one, because it’s the only disease where you get to be drunk all the time.
