Just found a Dremel tool in the lab labeled “Rat Surgery” amusing, but don’t laugh, as we’re likely next.

Not too surprising, or disturbing, really. I think there are a lot of surgical tools (drills, saws, etc.) that are made by either Craftsman or Black & Decker (or a similar shop-tool company – I don’t remember off the top of my head). They just have special medical models.
Heck, a Dremel would make a very good surgical tool – variable speed, the small size makes controlling it easier, and it can fit a large variety of tools to suit the particular need.
Hell I watched a knee replacement where the surgeon essentially used a surgical grade framing hammer.
Its not too far off at all.
My dentist and I were talking about how many dentists get into small detailed woodworking and other hobby projects as the skills and tools are so similar.
Wow, never thought about it that way. My Uncle is a retired dentist, and finish carpentry has always been his favorite hobby. Some of the items he’s made are really impressive. I may have to bring that up next time I see him and see what he has to say.
Yeah, the conversation started when I commented about his drill being ultimate dremel tool.
It went something like this; “Mmmhfff ughh rrrhh drrr ikkk eeem ooh.”
🙂
