Gawd, what I thought would be a great sounding story pisses me off.
Gun maker Smith & Wesson says Massachusetts has approved $6 million in tax breaks over the next seven years, enabling the company to move 225 jobs to its Springfield headquarters.
Kinda sounds cool. I like S&W, and I like Jobs. Nothing wrong with tax breaks to job makers…better yet they be gun makers.
Smith & Wesson Holding Corp. said under the agreement with the state Economic Assistance Coordinating Council finalized on Tuesday it will move its Thompson/Center division from Rochester, N.H. to Massachusetts and expand its headquarters and plant.
OK first up this “Job Creation” comes at the expense of shutting down the plant in New Hampshire. Second this is Thompson/Center, which makes AMAZING hunting guns, and single-shot convertible firearms. But in the age of declining hunting, and massive expansion of defensive handguns and rifles they really haven’t been doing very well.
Let’s hope this works out for the best. Of course S&W has bent over before to anti-gun solons, I hope it never happens again….
