Anti-Freedom

So Jay, the other day talked about an Arlington Man who’s gun permit was revoked because of a blog post. Please note that in Massachusetts your permit is not only for carry, but also to BUY and OWN firearms. You have no 2nd Amendment rights in Massachusetts without government permission, and taxation.

Now I am not going to publish or agree with the statement in question. It was not polite, or in good form. That being said this man’s permit has been revoked, but as of yet he has NOT be charged, or convicted of a crime.

In Massachusetts you don’t need to.

Still its good to see the professional bigots aren’t disguising their positon on this. I give you Joan Peterson of the Brady Campaign.

This blogger got himself into very serious trouble for writing threatening words towards elected officials. Some things are just not O.K. to say in public. Your words are read by many and they mean different things to different people. We can disagree here but it is going to be with politeness and respect. It is also going to be with the facts and not hyperbole. It is going to be occasionally heated but with the idea in mind that we may each have our own opinions whic does not necessarily make one of us right and one of us wrong. And it will not b devoid of emotion. Gun violence and guns evoke strong feelings on both sides. In the end, I am asking for common sense.

So “Common Sense” is a person having his property confiscated because somebody thought what he said was rude. Note this is said by a person who support banning of property, and passing government registration.

She is correct, the 1st Amendment does not protect all speech. Hence why we have crimes like criminal threat, Libel, and slander.

You’ll note no charges have been filed. Just a permit revoked and guns confiscated.

They are not only comfortable with this, but they rejoice in it. This is not a Gun story, but a 1st Amendment story.

How about other laws like Registration and “safe storage” Would they be against Police or inspectors entering your home to confirm your cooperation and compliance with the law, even if this is a 4th Amendment violation?

How about excessive fines or prison time for minor violations of their pet laws. Like say somebody caught with a post 1994 magazine that has a capacity greater than 10, or say somebody possessing hollow point Ammunition in the state of New Jersey. How about somebody Who accidentally open carries in Florida or Texas?

You see, those who hate the 2nd Amendment hate all of America’s freedom as well.

Groups like the Joyce Foundation or the Brady Campaign are simply groups looking to nullify the Bill of Right, as well as all individual liberty.

Make sure they stand for their actions!

Also note that they confiscated his guns but not the personal property he actually used to pen the non-existent “threat.”

They’ll take their victories where they can get them. If they have to strip us of our guns one person at a time, they will.

I’m encouraged to see the attention this incident has gotten from bloggers throughout the country.

The Massachusetts discretionary licensing system is indeed scary. The majority of police chiefs issue unrestricted licenses to anyone not statutorily disqualified, so for many of us with no criminal history it’s effectively a “shall-issue” state. On the other hand, some chiefs issue restricted licenses and require extra paperwork, like doctors’ notes, qualification tests at the police range, and personal recommendations. People in different MA towns have widely different gun rights.

The chief of police can revoke our license and confiscate our guns for any reason of “suitability.” State law gives him this power explicitly, but doesn’t define suitability, so he has a huge amount of leeway. Incidents like this are the result.

I do not understand why anyone would need a bookshelf that holds more than ten books.

This is gonna be one HELLVA lawsuit…

I hope so. I’ll breath a LOT easier when my permit is just my permission slip to carry, rather than my permission slip to own guns and ammo.

I’ll breath a lot easier if the permit can only be revoked after the commission of a disqualifying crime.

I’ll stop for a rest break when I don’t need a damn permit to exercise my 2nd Amendment rights!

In an ideal world, this would be useable as a springboard to strip the Massachusetts of their “suitable” requirement for firearm ownership, and then start an asault against their registration scheme in general.

In our world, I think it is not pessimistic to say that I will be very surprised if TJIC gets his firearms back…
