So Joe has a neat post up. Its a press releace from lead Joyce Puppet the Violence Policy Center from 1999, go read the whole thing but the tag line was:
After losing in Missouri, where can the gun lobby count on victory? This defeat, coming on the heels of a resounding referendum vote in Florida to crack down on gun shows, proves that states once considered the heart of the NRA’s power base are rejecting its extremist pro-gun message. As Americans’ support for sensible gun control grows, the NRA’s power continues to crumble.
Joe mentions that 1999 was dark times for gun rights in America, and referenced Thirdpower’s post on another Joyce Puppet closing an office., Seems that 2010 and 2011 are dark times for the anti-rights forces, as they are all losing money, and have no political clout left.
But what has changed in hearing them talk?
There is a remarkable consensus among those who own guns and those who do not supporting sensible policies to regulate guns; the NRA’s extremism is not typical of gun owners, nor even of its own members.
–Dennis Henigan, Brady Campaign
The new normal includes reasonable and sane people who also read this blog, agree with me and are willing to consider my ideas. They have always been there. They are not threatened by me. They don’t fear that I intend to take away rights or their guns. They know I am yearning for common sense. They want me to succeed. If you read my blog about reasonable gun owners and yesterday’s blog about random comments, you saw what reasonable gun owners say about 30 round ammunition magazines and reasonable gun laws. Those are the people I am writing for. They are the ones who will likely support my efforts to get laws passed and educate others about safe gun use and also about what the NRA and it’s minions are doing to our country by refusing to offer any solutions or compromises.
–Joan Peterson Brady Campaign and Joyce Foundation
Americans favor stricter gun control laws and better mental health screening and support to prevent mass shootings, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll found.
All this while support for Gun Control wanes, and their funding dries up, while gun sales are on the rise, female shooters are catching up with males who used to have a disproportionate share of the community, and the shooting sports are on the rise. Heck Joan Peterson is the only Brady Campaign or Joyce Foundation member who’s blog accepts comments, and even despite massive moderation of pro-gun comments, it seems the only supporting voices she can find for her comment section are the well-known trolls who likely found her blog by reading PRO-Gun blogs.
Kinda reminds me of this guy, what do you think?
Yes, gun control is increasingly popular in America, and the NRA is just a paper tiger. Common sense Americans stand toe to toe with the Brady Campaign, and the Joyce Foundation….and the Baath Party will easily defeat the Americans and Saddam Hussein will remain in power indefinitely!
Heh

I really miss Baghdad Bob!
Don’t worry, VI, we have Baghdad Brady.
I like how the only people “reasonable”, “normal”, or “sane” are the ones who agree, wholeheartedly and without reservation, with Joan, while everyone else, obviously is none of those things.
The second someone starts bandying about those words without explanation or substantiation, you know they are grasping at straws, and they know you know it – passive-aggressive ad hominems are still ad hominems…
One must be passive aggressive when one has no power, and no friends….
