“Gun Death” Ice Pick

Here’s a tragic story but with some interesting implications to look at.

The father of Filipino pop singer and “Glee” star Charice was stabbed to death with an ice pick in a drunken street fight, police said Tuesday

Overall the story is just a minor interaction turned into a heated brawl, and sadly a man lost his life. Also I’ll point out that this happened in the Philippines which I suspect is one of those “Developed Nations” that have a very low “Gun Death”, they also have very high gun control.

Now this story was submitted because its not a “Gun Death”, but interestingly enough the murder weapon was an ice-pick, a tool designed to chip ice, but because of the nature of its design it has always been a VERY popular concealed weapon. There’s a reason why Ice picks are so frequently referenced in Noir Novels and Hollywood Thrillers. The design of an icepick is one for deep penetration even through tough surfaces, allowing vital organs to be injured.

But of course this story doesn’t count, because somehow “Gun Deaths” are more relevant than a man stabbed with an ice pick. You know because a gun turns a simple bar argument into a deadly encounter….
