More Kahr Love

Looks like Shelly had a VERY similar experience in her first 500 rounds through her Kahr PM9 that I had with my PM45. No malfs, just the gun went from being unpleasantly tight to feeling like a “Normal Gun”.

I remember tearing down my PM45 for the first few times as a damn arduous experience to now just being slightly more difficult than stripping a 1911 (and one thing that makes a M1911 very easy to strip is that you can decompress the recoil spring so lining up takedown notches is an effortless operation.

So yeah, if you like the little Kahr pistols, and you’re not invested in the .45 caliber like I am, or prefer 9×19 (or .40 S&W for that matter) or just want a smaller, lighter gun just take your pick from the good people at Kahr and I suspect you have the same experience.

If you do happen to buy a new Kahr I recommend a quick cleaning and lube as the goop they ship the guns packed in is designed to keep the gun pristine during shipping and possibly months of being fondled in a gun cabinet at a gun shop, and not for shooting (tho it might work just fine, I don’t chance it) then put 200+ rounds through it before messing with it again. You’ll find a kinder gentler Kahr when you get there.

I still love mine to death. It was worth the wait to get it. (BTW I still owe you all a story on how I got the good Eleanor into my safe)

I want to like them. I really, really do. They feel comfortable on a belt and in my hand. That is, until I shoot them. Something in my grip and their shape are not compatible. Every time I shoot, the recoil drives the mag release into my thumb.

Pistols are not one-size-fits-all, and thankfully we live in a free country where you can have your pick.

Hell even in Mass I was able to get this non-Mass-Approved pistol. There’s something to be said about that.

The PM40 is now MA-approved. While that’s a baby step, maybe the PM45 will be MA-approved at some point, too… 😉

With the crappy safety, and crappy loaded chamber indicator, and an extra $100 on the already steep price tag.

$700 for a pocket pistol is only justified if its the best damn pocket pistol on the market. (Which IMHO, it is) but $800 for a crappier version of that $700 Pocket pistol, BULLSHIT!
