Neighborhood Zoology

Saw this guy on my street today!

Crappy cellphone picture that I cropped down. As far as I can tell from markings and beak size it was a Peregrine Falcon, and when this guy flew off, another came out of nowhere to chase him and make a LOT of noise. We have a lot of Red Tails around here too. Not only are they cool but they eat squirrels and pigeons.

So the more I see of them the happier I am!

So they eat vermin? Sounds like we need to dispatch them at OWS protests.

  2. I waste every ‘yote I see specifically to help the predatory bird population out here on the Palouse. Yotes mainly eat the field mice and killing them makes it easier for the birds to find prey for themselves and their young.

I absolutely love seeing the hawks out hunting in the fields.
