Its NPR, their IDEA of a call-in-show would have any conservative radio producer hollering through the headphones to cut it short and go to the phones. Still this show at 10am EST Is going to be taking calls.
The guest linup isn’t as skewed as usual…but still…
Dan Gross of the Brady Camp (naturally)
Dave Workman of the Second Amendment Foundation (!)
and This Guy who seems to get that gun control isn’t the answer….but his page constantly talks about “Reasonable restrictions” without actually naming anything, and spewing a LOT of NRA hate…so I suspect the show might play him off as a “moderate” or “Pro-gun”…but I doubt he’ll come off that way….
We’ll see
h/t Greg Camp

Dave will mop the floor w/ them all.
If they let him talk. Generally NPR likes to keep the pro-freedom people around just for the APPEARANCE of fairness. Chances are the host will hate guns, and the other guy will go barking mad about guns that look scary and magazines that hold “too many bullets” and Dave will have to bite his tongue because you look unhinged if you try too hard to get a word in.
Of course Penn Jillette has a rule when talking on hostile ground. Speak when given the opportunity, and sit and smile while the host rants. He say it feels like you’re getting your ass kicked, but people notice when a guest is invited on, and is polite and well-spoken….but isn’t allowed to speak.
Radio makes that approach much harder as if you steamroll the opposition it appears like they don’t exist at all.
“Radio makes that approach much harder as if you steamroll the opposition it appears like they don’t exist at all.”
Which is exactly their aim, to control the narrative Lakoff style and “show” that those gun-clingers have no arguments.
Which just leaves them flat footed if they ever have to debate someone on open ground.
Though they also can’t seem to realize how ignorant and hysterical the standard anti-gun rants appear to anyone with an ounce of knowledge.
