Part of me is sad that they were such a commercial failure…but part of me is kinda glad to see these monstrosities strangled in their crib!
What do you think?

“Sniper Rifle” is one term I HATE. Not specifically to snipers and the rifles they use, but to rifles not being used by snipers.
You may have had this question asked of you: “Oh you own guns? Do you own a Sniper Rifle?”
Well I personally like rifles with iron sights, so generally the answer is an easy “No”, I do have a few rifles with glass on them in the armory…but they are “Hunting Rifles”. Are they hunting rifles because I hunt with them? Nope, but the previous owners of these rifles used them to hunt, and these guns in particular were designed by the factory for hunting
Still let’s say you have a .308 Rem 700 with a bull barrel and some good glass on top. Do you have a Sniper Rifle? Probably not. Now what if you have a scoped M91/30? maybe not, because some of them were modified after the infantry rifles came into the surplus market. Still if it WAS indeed issued to a sniper in the war, yeah it’s a sniper rifle.
Other than that, unless you are a sniper WITH a rifle, it is not a “Sniper Rifle”
More here.
This is a sad and preventable one:
A man delivering drywall to a New Jersey construction site was killed Monday when a tape measure fell 50 stories, striking him on the head, authorities said.
The 1-pound tape measure became dislodged from the belt of a worker on the 50th floor and struck construction equipment about 10 to 15 feet from the ground, according to Carly Baldwin, a spokeswoman for Jersey City’s Department of Public Safety. It then ricocheted and struck **Victim**, 58, who had just stopped to speak with another worker who was in a pickup truck just before 9 a.m. in the city’s downtown section.
…**Victim** was not wearing a hard hat, but had one in his truck at the time, according to the police report.
SO first up EVERYBODY sees the signs. I’ve never worked or set foot on a construction site in my life, but I’ve walked by hundreds of them in my life. At every entrance, and on trailers and equipment it says “Hard Hat Area” and something about EVERYBODY with no exceptions must have one. Growing up my neighbor was an architect, and he went to work every day in a nice car wearing a suit…but in the back window of his car was a hard hat, because sometimes he had to inspect his work at the cite, or help with questions on his drawings.
An other thing I heard from a story of a man who worked on tall ships. He told a story of a screw driver falling out of the tool belt on a man working in the rigging. It stuck into the deck like a dagger. Because of that most tall ships have a rule that ALL tools have lanyards affixed to the tool belt. Same goes for when crews are working on trees. Even their chainsaws have lanyards.
I assume this construction site had a rule like that as well, just like they had a rule for hard hats. Funny how that works, even if safety rules are mandated, people don’t always follow them.
Still, not a “Gun Death”, so let’s just move on.
H/T Nancy
Now I’m constantly asking people to point out people getting killed over alcohol after the 21st Amendment was ratified. Well it DOES happen:
A 16-year-old Texan has been arrested on suspicion of killing a man with a car after he refused to buy the youth alcohol, police in Abilene said on Monday.
So really it’s STILL a prohibition story, as people who are 16 can’t buy booze.
Either way, like Capone bombing a speakeasy, this is NOT a “Gun Death”
We first saw this meme here. Now it’s been re-hashed
So like the last image, the “Everytown” name is not present, but you’ll see from the image I grabbed it from their twitter feed. Now again, Kansas is an open-carry state (tho from a quick reading, not as friendly as New Hampshire in the previous post) that requires a permit only for CONCEALED carry. So again, there is already carry with no permits there, and as you can see, the crops are not watered with the blood of innocents there.
Of course what popped up in the last post was a little more talk of training. It’s been a COLD winter, with lots of snow, and I’ve been reluctant to cut my hair just because I know my first trek out into the yard with a shovel and a short beard will bit CHILLING.
Still I’m officially sick of it this long (I know some of you fellas grow your beards long, and they look awesome, but more than 3″ and it starts driving me crazy!) so tonight after the baby goes to bed, and before the Squirrel Report, I’ll be trimming it.
No license, no training. My wife will help get the parts I can’t see to make sure I didn’t miss anything, and she has NO training either.
See, like painting your own nails, or trimming your own hair, there is a HUGE difference between performing a friendly service to yourself or to a close friend, than to a paying customer as a means of a business.
SO we COULD compare training to become a Barber or to become a Police Officer as one it cutting hair and shaving faces for a living, and the other is upholding the law for a living.
I’m doing NEITHER of those things when I cut my hair, or strap on a gun. I don’t care if somebody is speeding, or selling loose cigarettes or soliciting a prostitute. I don’t carry a gun because I want to be a cop any more than I cut my own hair because I want to be a barber. I do them both because they are the smart thing to do. Cutting my own hair saves me tons of time and money and carrying a gun allows me to protect myself while I wait for the cops to show up.
So yeah, I see the idea that you need a permission slip to carry a gun in public in Kansas, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, or anywhere to be as foolish as MANDATING I take a safety class and keep a permit in good order for me to run some clippers through my mop.
Now I wonder, is this a murder or a double murder?
A central Ohio man who police say confessed to beating and strangling his pregnant girlfriend and burying her beside a cornfield will be arraigned on aggravated murder and other charges.
Now the “Progressives” always like to say a baby is just a “lump of cells” before it crosses the cervix…but they also don’t care much for deaths that don’t involve guns…so who cares?
So tonight on the Squirrel Report
-Net Neutrality
-Scott Walker
-Emily Miller now Legal to Carry
Plus other stuff. The fun stuff is the call-in. What would your collective noun for Social Justice Warriors be? Like a “Rancor” of Feminists?
So call in at 9pm EST 214-530-0036 and join us for THE SQUIRREL REPORT!!
This would be a clever cartoon if it was at all true:

So first off, the fact that the Bizzaro World Wayne LaPierre has a rifle, and when you look at long-arm homicides and assaults we really don’t have a problem at all. I mean more people are killed with hammers than long-guns of any kind, that number becomes trivially lower if you want to only count the “Scary” AR-15.
Still the antis focus on “Gun Violence” and by “Gun Violence” I simply mean “Guns”. As we see from the “Gun Death?” Files violent people will do violent things with whatever tool is handy. If that tool is a gun we have a “Gun Death”, and the antis go wild…if it’s one of the ultra-rare homicides where somebody uses a so-called “Assault Weapon” it’s national news…even when one isn’t used, the anti-gun media reports the firearm as an AR-15 anyway to make more sensational and agenda-driven news.
Yet as we see, if the violent person has a kitchen knife, or uses an automobile, or a hammer…silence, because only “Gun Death” counts.
The argument could be made that we have a VIOLENCE problem…but I don’t even know if I’d make that one, as the vast majority of this country is VERY safe, and even the vast majority of major cities are safe, really it’s just a few REALLY bad neighborhoods, and even then the serious violent crimes are conducted by a handful of bad actors.
Honestly we have a criminal problem. Talk to a beat cop in one of these gang-infested cities, and he can probably rattle off several names and even the amount of time that cop has personally arrested them.
But again, who cares about any of that when you could just ban guns!
Because that keeps insane and murderous professors in check!
Maumelle police are investigating the shooting deaths of three people on Auriel Circle Friday night.
…The initial findings, according to the Maumelle Police Department indicate an apparent arson, murder-suicide.
…A source close to the investigation has told FOX16’s Drew Petrimoulx that 41-year-old UALR professor **KILLER** is believed to be the shooter based on evidence at the scene.
But investigators are awaiting autopsy results to confirm that.**KILLER** wife, sister and two dogs were also found shot to death inside the burning home.
I don’t care what the motives are, shooting your wife, sister, and dogs, setting your house on fire, before punching your own clock is pure madness. Even if this was a case of the worst marriage on earth, he could have simply packed his bags and been banging hookers in Vegas before the sun set.
Hey, but notice he didn’t decide to cross that “Gun Free Zone” force field! That’s not a coincidence, those things work!
Again, strong gun laws, and ignoring “Gun Death”:
A man with a history of psychiatric problems beheaded his mother in her Long Island, N.Y., apartment late Tuesday and then dragged the body and head out onto a street, where onlookers initially thought they were witnessing a macabre Halloween prank, police and witnesses said.
Thank goodness New York’s “Common Sense” and SAFE gun laws kept this guy from getting a gun!
