Quote of the Day: Erin

Erin really knocks one out of the part at Joe’s

“Tell you what: I’ll support restrictions on the 2nd Amendment to reduce firearms violence the moment you support restrictions on the 1st Amendment to reduce Islamist violence.”

Now note that Erin is being intentionally coy in this comment. Still she REALLY hit it out of the park.

First up, let’s note that there are HUGE swaths of American Citizens that have ZERO protection under the 2nd Amendment. These are felons, people with protective orders, people who have been sentenced to over a year in prison, those who have been committed to mental health treatment by a court of law, and those convicted of domestic violence. You know all the stipulations of the GCA ’68. Oddly when you hear about a shooting in your local news, chances are the dude who pulled the trigger was already a convicted felon.

Also just like removing 2nd Amendment rights doesn’t seem to stop violent people from committing violence, removing the right to a religion does not stamp it out. Just look at the early Christians!

Yeah, there is a LOT of violence being done by Islam right now, but banning it’s practice won’t stop it, just like banning guns does little good for public safety.

Of course like places that have banned guns, good guys comply with the law, so it could be assumed if Islam was banned, all those GOOD Muslims might comply.

….maybe. But it would also be a pretty nice incentive for them to be BAD Muslims….

“Gun Death” Stabbed By Hobo

This is a sad one:

A graphic designer on a biking trip from Maryland to Miami was stabbed to death by a homeless man outside a Florida McDonald’s while he spoke on the phone with his girlfriend, authorities said.

Kevin Adorno, 28, of Unionville, Connecticut, stumbled into the restaurant Monday after the attack, witnesses told police. He had been talking on the cellphone with his girlfriend, to whom he planned to propose at the end of the trip, Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers reported.

Adorno’s girlfriend told investigators she didn’t hear any sounds from a confrontation. But she did hear the phone drop, then silence, and eventually sirens in the background.

Sounds like the reason for the fatal attack is a paranoid psychotic episode. Now I have no idea if this cyclist owns guns or carries for self-protection. He was from Connecticut, but these days you never know who’s armed as every state that actually issues carry permits (they all have them, but places like NYC and New Jersey, or DC, don’t actually GIVE the permits out to eligible people) are seeing record number of card holders.

Still unless you’re traveling through the western planes states where a Utah permit will probably cover you almost everywhere, the East coast is IMPOSSIBLE to traverse armed. So he was VERY vulnerable to attack, and that doesn’t mean just by guns.

But the antis don’t care, because this wasn’t a “Gun Death”.

And in solidarity with the dead and injured, I thought I’d post this.

Images of the Antis: Emanuel Goldstein

**Note update at the bottom on the real identity of the man in the picture**

This is a bit of an odd one, but I decided it’s better to post it than not:

Baldr Goldstien

Link to the pinterest page here

I did a ton of google searching, both using the name cited as well as the details of the event in the caption, and I found nothing. I clicked on the source and it 404’d.

So as far as I can tell the event detailed never happened, and I can find nothing on a “Jebidiah Ashton”, real or fake. I hope I’m not spreading somebody’s puerile defamation campaign, as that IS a real dude in the picture, and it seems pretty clear the crime being alleged never happened.

Still I felt it was more important to show how filled with hatred antis are. They find an image detailing a fantastical story, and rather having a grain of skepticism, or even curiosity at why this isn’t the top of all the local news feeds, given that this would be an even BIGGER story than George Zimmerman.

So yeah, I decided to post it with a reference to the same behavior exhibited in Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Just like in the book, Goldstein likely doesn’t really exist, nor Big Brother for that matter, but the antis NEED somebody to hate so badly that they’re willing to create one out of whole cloth.

So if you have any further information on this image, or recognize the guy in it, let me know. Also if it turns out I’m doing more harm than good hosting this image, I’ll take it down.

**UPDATE** Ratus found the original image here Looks like he’s a computer programmer named Donald K. Burleson who’s written a ton of books on stuff I don’t understand, and lives in NC. If anybody has some contact information for him please let me know via email weerdbeard (AT) gmail, or simply forward him my email address, as I’d like to let him know about this libel, and get his personal feelings on it.

**UPDATE 2*** Looks like the initial libel happened in this article.

Oops!

So a “Progressive” blogger I enjoy reading (but don’t encourage through links or name mentions) has disappeared. I strongly suspect this blogger has uncontrolled bipolar disorder, where he CONSTANTLY posts disjointed and foolish posts for a period of time, then vanishes. I suspect this if the cycling of a manic phase due to his mental illness.

So that lead me down a wiki-wander on Bipolar disorder, and I stumbled upon this:

Pressure of speech is a hallmark of mania and is often seen during manic periods in patients with bipolar disorder. The pace of the speech indicates an underlying thought disorder known as “flight of ideas” where the information going through the person’s head is so fast that it is difficult to follow their train of thought.

People with schizophrenia, as well as anyone experiencing extreme anxiety, may also exhibit pressure of speech. Pressure of speech usually refers to the improperly verbalized speech which is a feature of hypomanic and manic illness.

Pressure of speech has commonly been observed in people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Hmmm, I suspect that’s the origin of the stutter many of you may have noticed in my podcasts. It’s not a true stutter, as I tend to repeat individual words, and not single syllables.

When I’m talking about something I’m passionate about (such as podcasts, or debates) my thoughts are racing and I want to get them all out, but my voice can only go so fast, and there comes the stutter.

And for those that don’t know, or couldn’t guess, I have ADD (I was diagnosed in the 80s before ADHD became the standard diagnosis, plus I’m not hyperactive in any way).

So yeah, those listening to podcasts, the stuttering will continue! 🙂

Images of the “Progressives”: Hatred and Rage

This one just gives me the creeps:

This reminds me of when I read the Communist Manifesto. On the surface the book reads as a compassionate, altruistic plan for propping up the underprivileged of society, but beneath that paper-thin veneer is a self-loathing man who is filled with rage against those who are better off than him through hard work and sacrifice.

Really the take-away I get from this is “Progressives” REALLY want a civil war where all the people who think differently than them are locked up or killed that they can watch on TV from their couch while wearing sweat pants.

“Gun Death” Serial Beating

Wow, this is a crazy story!

A person of interest in the beatings of four men found dead in separate homes in the same Ohio community remained jailed on a probation violation as authorities on Wednesday refused to discuss details of the slayings or any possible motive, citing the pending investigation.

Police have said the deaths in Bucyrus, about 65 miles north of Columbus, were likely related. Friends and relatives say at least some of the victims knew each other and the man in custody.

Two bodies were found Monday. Authorities said a man came into the police station and led officers to two more bodies Tuesday morning.

Bucyrus police Chief Dave Koepke said each of the four men suffered trauma above the shoulders, but he wouldn’t give specifics.

“All the victims suffered,” he said.

Antis who fixate on “Gun Death” tell us this kind of carnage can ONLY happen if the killer has a gun. I would say that this kind of carnage can only happen if the victims are unarmed.

De Blasio to NYPD: Fuck You!

Or at least that’s how I read it:

As reported by The Washington Post on Jan. 5, 2015, accompanied by his ever present Police Commissioner Bill Bratton, the city’s mayor Bill de Blasio (born: Warren Wilhelm, Jr.) verbally opened fired at the numerous members of the NYPD who have turned their backs on him in recent appearances. As de Blasio stated, the offending officers were “disrespectful to the families involved. They were disrespectful to the families who had lost their loved ones. I can’t understand why anyone would do such a thing in the context like that.”

Yet as caught by a sharp-eyed individual who goes by the Twitter nom de plume JMCW, New York City’s First Lady Chirlane McCray was photographed at Det. Liu’s funeral dressed in a fashion more suitable for Casual Friday. As caught on film, the grief-stricken wife of the mayor was in attendance in what appeared to be a somewhat faded pair of denim blue jeans.

The last time I wore my one suit was at my Grandmother’s funeral in Northern Maine. Out there in the sticks my halfway-decent tailored suit was probably in the upper echelon of garb, but everybody was presentable in their own way.

Personally I HATE dressing up, I tend to wear clothes that are both economical and comfortable. That way if I get them dirty or worn I can clean them in the regular wash, or simply throw them away, or turn them into gun rags.

Still there are times when you dress to show respect, and funerals, weddings, baptisms, and communions, as well as job interviews are time for the suit to come out.

With men it’s easy, wear a suit, or at least some nice slacks and a tie. Slacks and a Polo are a bit causal, but you’re still at least appearing professional. With women there are a myriad of choices, but still none of those include a pair of jeans.

De Blasio is considered “politically embattled” when it comes to his relationship with the NYPD, and we can argue if he’s anti-cop, or pro anti-police demonstrators, or soft-on-crime. Still this funeral was a time to communicate his feelings, and being seen with a wife dressed in standard street wear really sent a message.

No, NYPD, a funeral of one of your own who was assassinated is not worth the time to put on one of my nice dresses or suits.

This is nothing short of crass.
