“Gun Death” Energy Drinks

Chicago too! Irony!

On the eve of City Council hearings on a proposed ordinance to ban energy drinks in Chicago, the maker of one brand of those beverages is disputing allegations that its products are dangerous.

A Maryland family whose child died after consuming monster energy drinks disagrees. They want to help stop the sale of the drinks.

Alderman Ed Burke has proposed banning high-caffeine energy drinks in Chicago. A hearing Tuesday afternoon will address that proposal.

Go read the story, I don’t think the drink was actually to blame…still ban it anyway..should work as well as the other bans Chicago does!

“Gun Death” “Happy Family”

I guess Not Really:

In their Leesburg neighborhood of Edwards Landing, Kyung and Dae Hwang struck everyone as a couple full of love and generosity….Capt. Clagett Moxley of the Leesburg police said Kyung suffered “several stab wounds all over the body.” Knives have been recovered from the Hwangs’ home, and authorities are awaiting the autopsy report to confirm the official cause of death. Police said they had never responded to the house for any emergency before Saturday’s visit.

Adds an interesting spin on the whole “Hidden Criminals” thing, or “Guns Make it too easy to murder”. Odd and sad case, but not interesting to the anti-freedom crowd, as no guns were used.

Alive

Plane landed at midnight, thankfully my face was mashed into my pillow at 1am…Saddly Mrs. Weer’d obeyed my foolish request to wake me up at 5:30.

More blogging after more sleeping.

“Gun Death” Tokyo

Japan, the land of gun control, and sadly the land of “Gun Death”.

A Romanian boy who stabbed a young Tokyo woman in the back in a mugging has explained that “stabbing her was simpler than threatening her” and that he needed her money “as I spent all mine at the arcade.”

The 17-year-old unemployed Romanian boy resided in Tokyo’s Musashino city, and explained that “I thought I’d rob someone as I spent all my money at the arcade. It occurred to me that it would be simpler to take their money if I just stabbed them, rather than threatened them.”

Wow, good thing nobody had a gun, right?

The Convention Was Great!

At the airport, waiting for my flight to leave.

Had a lot of fun at the convention. Didn’t take many pictures (I’ll need to troubleshoot my camera).

Looks like myself, Jay, and Nancy all made it to buzzfeed around the meager anti-rights protest.

More later.

“Gun Death” Bad

Yeah

Police are investigating the possibility that a mother killed her two children before dying in a fire she set in the bedroom of the family’s southwest Missouri home.

Ugh…Do we really need to use “Gun Death”? Is it relevant that this monster didn’t have a gun?

“Gun Death” Balloon Crash

Ban Hot Air Balloons!

A hot air balloon flying over Egypt’s ancient city of Luxor caught fire and crashed into a sugar cane field on Tuesday, killing at least 18 foreign tourists, a security official said.

I remember as a child going to a fair and seeing hot air balloons being launched. I asked my parents how they worked, and when I realized that there were no flight controls, and you never knew exactly where you’d land in a balloon ride, and my first thoughts were “WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT???” So really hot air balloons just seem like a lot of trouble for a quiet helicopter ride with no flight control.

If I was like those who use “Gun Death” to push an agenda, I would totally use this story to push for banning hot air balloons, simply because they don’t seem to do much good in my book, but do have a danger.

Of course don’t let the part about them being generally safe get in the way of that argument…we can’t do anything dangerous EVER!!!!
